Burnt iron?

How would you clean an iron that had like brown burn marks on it on the metal part?
Somehow iv managed to burn my iron and now every time I iron I have to be really carefull that it doesn't come off on the clothes

Any ideas what I could do? I'd rather not buy a new one if I can help it as. Tis one is only 4months old

I ruined mine by doing this and it ruined lots of clothes too I tried alsorts to get it off & it never fully came off and soon collected burn back....I had to go buy a new one in the end and not had a problem since

I did this to mums last year... I just reheated the iron on the lowest setting and scraped in off then once cool i wiped over it to get the excess off.

Thanks, I'll try heating it up and scraping it off seriously this is the 5th iron iv had in 3 years!xx
