Buy maternity clothes or just buy a size bigger??

Definitely maternity, as soon as I could (2nd month!). The bigger sizes were just uncomfortable. I was really hesitant about the trousers with elasticated tops as they just looked so ugly to me, but as soon as I tried them, omg, totally changed my mind. Have been wearing such ones ever since!! So comfortable. I really can't stand anything constricting my bump or below the bump as it is quite tender so these have been a true godsend!! I was wearing them when I was still trying to hide my bump too! (they made it look smaller) with a normal bigger size patterned top which took attention away from my bump. I am still wearing such ones with maternity tops :)

I'm in maternity pants... but the tops are HUGE on me (I'm petite) so I just wear long tops that I already have.

I did have to buy a dress a size up for a work event... all the maternity dresses I tried just looked tent-like and "Amish," as my DH said.

So definitely get the pants. They're super comfy. :)

I bought maternity in pants but for dresses and skirts i just bought a bigger size also skirts with elastic waist bands

I'm stuck inbetween right now too so I got two pairs of second hand maternity pants that go under the bump and I LOVE them. I can still wear most of my normal tops but when I see belly peeking out the bottom, they get cut. Some cute maternity tops I've started to work in to of my rotation.

Maternity pants are so flippin' comfy and they actually give me that. 'Bump' shape instead of looking like muffin top. Win win.

I had the same experience that the maternity jeans were fitting great long before the tops were. At first the tops were so huge I was trying to shrink them thinking I would never ever actually fill them out. Well, I was WRONG now about a month and a half later to two months those hugs shirts fit me just fine and I am starting to wonder if I will have to resort to wearing bedsheets in the final weeks. O_o

I have both. I wear maternity jeans to look nice, but work in over-size jeans. I have to bend constantly, and the maternity jeans can be too unyielding for that.

Haven't read the posts, but for me...maternity clothes were SO much more comfortable on my belly. After you give birth, you will still (most likely) have a belly, and maternity clothes fit so much better. Seven months later (unfortunately I still have a belly) I still wear mine, and like them better than my regular clothes that are a few sizes bigger.
