Buying baby things in early pregnancy

With my LO I didn't by anything until week 24 - and even most things in the last 4-5 weeks. (I was scared I'll jinx it)

Since she's only 10 months old, we have nearly everything. So I don't think there'll be much shopping this time around, unless this little bean turns out to be a boy, in which case I'll need to get some more boyish clothes.

I do recommend buying most things 2nd hand though - they go through stuff so fast, it's crazy.

i havent with this one. when i found out with my son i went out the next day and got some newborn sized green and yellow onsies and caps. but that was it. i didnt buy anything else until 2nd tri sometime.

I am so tempted to start buying things but I think I’m going to wait a few more weeks. I don’t think we will start buying any of the large stuff until we have had our 20 week scan tbh but I might start getting a few small things over the next few weeks.

well i have been ready good but my hubby has been terrible, he has bought stacks and stacks of clothes, i cant keep him out of the baby isle when we go food shopping. Hes bought sleepy suits, hats bibs, onesies, mits socks etc.

We need to decide on a pram and a cot and get it bought too. i want a moses basket for naps during the day which im getting from John Lewis.

We won't get anything until after the scan, which isn't until 14th Oct. I don't need any of the big things anyway, just new nursery bedding, mattress, clothes, nappies and I want a sling/baby carrier this time as I'll have 2 small people :D x

I've only bought a few things so far, im 13+1. I think I will probably wait until 20 weeks before I buy most things, unless I just cannot resist. At the moment I've bought a Johnsons baby box, a gro-bag, a little blanket and 1 neutral baby set.

We haven't bought anything yet but its because we are in disagreement of who buys what. I'll be having a baby shower at some point so I dont want to go crazy buying a lot of stuff. DH thinks we should buy all the big ticket items & let the shower guests buy the clothes. I always figured DH & I would buy our baby's clothes, especially since our kid will never fit in newborn clothes (we come from families of 8 & 9 pound babies).

Its nice to hear thats im not the only one who buys things early LOL, before I was even pregnant we bought a couple of things, a moses basket, Jumperoo (for when they bigger)and a baby changing unit from my pal. Also started buying wet wipes and nappies when they are on special offer, but really need to get in each size as never know what size the baby will be.:baby: Oh yes and I also got the johnsons baby box which was on offer at £10 in asda

Anyway wishing you all a H&H 9months

lesley xxxxx

i haven't actually bought anything yet, but yesterday my mate came round with a bin bag full of unisex clothes and a fab cream and brown baby swing- which matches my living room nicely!!

At end of the month (pay day) will buy a few sleep suits etc and perhaps bottles, but will leave the rest till after November 12th which is my gender scan xxx

I wish I had the courage to even look at baby stuff let alone buy anything. I cant wait to buy the first lot of clothes! But its still so early 5w3d that I figured I will wait a few more weeks.

Hubby is so sweet he knows I am worrying and not looking at buying anything yet but I keep finding him on the internet looking at baby clothes and prams etc :-D he is going to make such an awesome dad and our baby is one lucky dude (or dudette) he really is the kindest sweetest man I dont think I have ever seen him so happy.

Just hope everything works out!

I wish i still had that pregnancy inncocene when youve never suffered a loss, unfortunatly i dont and wont be buying anything till after im viable :) x

i havent brought anything yet x

I want to start buying SO badly... especially when I saw the swing I wanted on craigslist... and its not a common swing so I doubt it will be up again soon.
DH won't let me buy anything until we know the sex which is frustrating, but I figure a few things can come in sooner.

Right now the biggest deterrent to keep me from 'slipping' is knowing that I don't have the space for it until we do a major cleanout of all our junk! :haha:
One thing I've heard that sounded good was to start buying diapers and wipes every couple of weeks... that way you're stocked up when baby finally comes. My friend got SO many tubes of diaper rash cream at her shower... it seems like you can't even stock up on essentials like that yourself! LOL!!! Yet not many showers do the diapers and wipes stock-up. My only fear with that is that my baby would have a sensitive butt and not be able to use the brand I stock up on :dohh:

My friend got almost 35 onesies at one of her showers! We did a onesie-painting project and she got 25 onesies from that alone (5 in each size from 0 to 24 months!), she then got another 10 or so as gifts.

I might start putting money in a jar instead of buying stuff... no matter what you buy ahead or get at your shower, there will be a TON of stuff still to buy.

had my scan today and found out were having a boy so cudent hold out any longer and went out and got him 2 lush blue baby grows and a little cardigen also a cute little tazmanion devil outfit hehe xxxx

I really really wanna buy loads, but I'm only 5wks, so won't yet. Maybe after 1st scan...

sorry but whats a onesie? lol, im blonde and from england :) xx

Its a little shirt that snaps together at the crotch.

awww, think we just call them plain boring old vests, thanks xx

I am going to buy a few sleepsuits etc and a baby carrier but thats it, until baby is here, i am too petrified now :( Not even a buggy

I am pretty early but im thinking of start buying things... We will be moving soon so i rather get everything ASAP
