Hi guys :) I'm still pregnant with my little girl but hoping to get some bottles bought (we will be bottle feeding).. a couple questions:

- How many bottles should I be buying?
- What brand of bottles do you recommend?
- What size(s) should I be buying?

Thanks girls.. going to search the internet for my answers too but asked you all first since you know better I think! :)

I bought 6 at first.. we had 2 newborn and the rest were the next size up & they are all advent :)

Hmm.. I bought a cople of the newborn 5oz ones but they were a waste of money. I have about 8 bottles now and they're all Tommee Tippee 9oz ones. I'll be getting about 6 more just so I've always got a supply!! I'm soo lazy!!! xxx

i'd say possibly 8-10 and would recommend mam or avent although everyone i know swears by dr browns and wish they'd bought them in the first place as they end up buying them about a month after baby is born and don't use the ones they bought in the first place.

We didnt use many bottles when Seth was newborn but when we did he had the tommee tippee closer to nature ones. I think thats what theyre called? And they were great :) They have an anti colic thingy in them to let bubbles out. Ive also heard good reviews about Dr Browns bottles but never used them myself.

xxx

I started out with 4 (4oz) Born Free bottles and liked them (too much assembly though), but once Avent came out with their BPA free line, I immediately switched over.

I can only recommend that you don't buy tonnes of one type. All babies are different and you really don't know which type she'll get along with until you try. Prepare yourself for a bit of trial and error hun.
Good luck!! x x

I have bags full of bottles, I started out with tommee tippee CTN ones and I brought about 6-8 of each size. Jessie wouldnt take them. We did an emergency run to Boots to get alternative ones and got Avent. We got again about 8 in each size. They didn't help her colic. Off to boots again and got MAM got 9x 9oz bottles and these are what she is still using. My shed is now like a bottle shop!
The moral of this story is don't go mad like I did and buy all your bottles at once until you're sure the baby and the bottle like each other :)
Good luck with your purchases
xXx

I have got 6 9oz advent bottles to start with x

Ive tried 4 diff types of bottles (costing over £200!!) and finally sticking with dr browns bottles :) I have 8 bottles of the 8oz ones :) I would recommend not buying the lil ones!! We bought 8 avent small ones and he was need more than the can hold within 2 weeks!! Waste of money XxX

I am going to try to BF this baby. But, in the past I have used bottles of all kinds. I have used disposables to high quality ones you wash.

I like Avent, is that even spelled correct? They have a large open base so you can reach in and wash any formula that is on the bottom! one word! rinse rinse! always after a feeding... dried formula in a bottle bottom is hard to get! I even threw some out b/c of this.

Drop ins... these are nice, baby has a fresh bottle. I like not having to deal with ^^^ what I talked about above... horrible! The down side is they can leak... have leaked. Plus, it is another item to have to buy. The liners to the bottle.

I say if you go with the disposable ones ALWAYS have a back up plain bottle in the house in case you run out of liners, had that happen! :dohh:

I have Evenflo bottles. I bought the Playtex drop-ins, like a whole starter kit of them and I put them back in the box and bought the Evenflo. You have no idea how many bags I burst open trying to get the damn air out of those stupid drop ins!!!

I have six 4 ounce bottles. She's only drinking 3oz right now at a time so I'm good for another little while. I'm sticking with them - she rarely gets gas and they have some sort of air vent in them that lets the air out so she doesn't suck it in.

I agree with massacubano, make sure you rinse the bottles after each use cause its crap trying to get it out after!!

I got the Evenflo at Wal-mart and they're pretty cheap ( like only a few bucks for a pack of 3). I haven't seen them anywhere else.

We brought Boots bottles, which weren't any good for Elliot (we'd got 8 i think)..then went on to buy some Tommee tippee, closer to nature ones and stuck with these as he seems happy using them. We got 9 in the end, 6 and then there were 3 free in the steriliser. This was usefull when he was having lots of bottles a day (little and often) but now hes just having 5 bottles a day at the most, but the extra bottles are good back up! We didn't bother with small bottles brought the big ones straight away to save buying more later on!

Josh is entirely BF but I do have 2 bottles so i can express. We got the advent 4oz bottles as they came with the the advent isis breast pump, so far so good but only used them twice, so i'm no expert.

im getting six mam ones to start off with, the mam starter kit is £19.99 x
