Ok so this is a little embarrassing because i think its due to me being so overweight post baby.

After my c sec the scar took a long time to heal properly it kept reopening and eventually healed up about 4 and a half months PP i think and has been fine since. I was putting medicated talc on the area to stop it rubbing because i have a massive horrible overhang  which seemed to be working fine until a weekish ago when it felt sore and i looked and the talc was all clumped up so i washed it and in the crease under the overhang it was like a small hole  im pretty sure its not on my actual scar but slightly underneath in the crease so i stopped using the talc thinking maybe it had irritated me all of a sudden and just carried on washing it as normal then today i decided to look before i got into the shower and it was bleeding and a tiny bit yellowy

Has anyone had this happen? I think maybe its the overhang causing it but i dont know and its just horrible because i dont think the overhang would go no matter how much weight i lost and i dont want to constantly be worrying over bleeding and getting holes/sores

i havnt had this happen to mine however since you said it was bleeding a little and yellowy that sounds like you might have a little infection i would make a drs appt and go have it checked out hun just to make sure x

Hiya, don't be embarrassed about speaking to your GP. I'm not really sure what yoh mean by an over hang but def get it checked out if you dont feel it is healing properly xx

Like where my bump was then i had the csec and bump deflated its never gone down so ive been left with like a saggy pouchy belly, attractive i know!

I've put some antibiotic cream on there to see if that helps and im on antibiotics anyway for something else so will wait and see then if it gets worse or no better after the antibiotics then i will go see the GP, eurgh why o why couldnt i have had a normal delivery or not put on a million stone in pregnancy one or the other lol.

The thing we women go through eh! I woul get it checked out though, Is it sore at all?

This is a fairly common problem even in some women that aren't overweight.
Nothing to be embarassed about. The "overhang" or "apron" has a nicer medical term, a "pannus". Yeast is usually the source of infection in that area. And I agree, it is embarassing, though it shouldn't be.

Keeping the area dry is crucial. Some of the nurses in the hospital recommended keeping long, overnight pads "under there", and I have used a cotton diaper rolled into a small roll in summer. Cleaning the area with very diluted vinegar and water is a natural yeast prevention.

Yes, I had this happen with my 3rd csection, developed an infection & had to go on antibiotics

Id defo go see your GP to get treatment started ~ Good luck :flower:

Its not sore at all no which is weird, im going to book in the GP's in the morning and see what they say although this morning there was no yellowyness it was just sort of scabbed over dark red blood so hopefully its on the mend.

Thanks all and Vintage for the tips will definitely try those out :)
Does it matter what type of vinegar you use, is white vinegar best or just normal malt vinegar?

Is your tummy not numb down there though? That might be why it's not sore.

I haven had this happen to me. But just wanted to let you know you're not alone with the overhang - not my favourite part of having a baby I must admit!

Eee, vinegar on your wound sounds a bit scary!

Mine wasnt sore when it was infected (well, no more sore than it was already) I first realised something may be wrong, when I could smell something a bit yuck!

I dont think that bit is numb its hard to explain where it is if you dont have an overhang yourself but its like in the crease, sort of where your belly meets the top of your bikini line so not sure its technically classed as my belly or not. Just below where most c section scars are if that helps.

i wouldnt put anything on it, id try to keep it in the open, so lying on back, use dettol to keep it clean and go see gp. If you need something to keep it feelig fresh try crystal deodorant x

Went to GP she said it must be from where its rubbed or something and then the bacteria that you have on your skin then jumps in so now its a little infected so got some diff antibiotics and antibipitc cream but tbh its actually only like a tiny little pinprick now but as the day goes on it bleeds and gets icky so looks worse.

definitely try the crystal deodorant, its like a stick of crystal and it doesnt stop sweat or anything like that buy it has mineral salts that kill bacteria.

I had a section 8 weeks ago & have had a similar problem. Mine got infected ( had this confirmed with GP) and he put me on antibiotics.
The main thing to do is keep it as dry as possible, i used rolled up gauze strips when i was out and about and then i lay on my back with the scar in the fresh air as much as i could when i was at home.
Hope your feeling better soon :)

Ha! I never said to put vinegar on the wound! I said very diluted vinegar and water was a good cleaning method to prevent
yeast buildup!

Anyway, OP is doing better!

Oh no I wouldnt use anything on it! I bought some savlon stuff that goes in the bath and was then told not to use anything!
I have the overhang too, I feel your pain :( I was advised to use gauze until it was healed. So wash the area, dry it with a hairdryer on cold setting to make sure it is fully dry, then put the gauze under. It will help until it heals. My problem is it seems to get sweaty in the crease  sorry, its horrible I know! I find it so embarrassing! But using the gauze really helped. I would definitely get to the doctor about the yellowness as it sounds like an infection and you dont want it to spread.

I didn't like the overhang from my 1st section so I had a lovely surgeon for my second and I told him about this and he said he would fix it and make my scar nice & neat
I will be asking for this to be done again x
