Hiya

I am havinh a planned c section on 17th oct. Hubby doesnt want to cut cord at mo but if he changes his mind and wants to does anyone know if they allow it with c sections? Xx

Yep, as long as all is well with baby you can request it. Or you could ask them to leave the cord long and then your OH can shorten it while they finish you up.

make sure you mention it when you go in.
it is probably abit instinctive for them to just do it but if you tell them it may be something that hubby wants to do they can ask him when the time comes

my oh cut my dd the last time but that was 7 years ago but can't see why it would have changed as long as all is ok with you and bubbs

just make sure you ask the doc on the day, before he starts, a friend asked her midwife, and had it in her birth plan, but the docs rarely look at that and the midwife forgot once things got underway, so he missed out.

I had a c and hubby cut the cord :) Wasnt an issue! They actually handed him the scissor to do it - we hadnt discussed it before - i think he was abit taken back but did it happilly!

Thanks. Went to see op theatre yesterday and they said hubby cant cut cord due to sterile situation but is allowed to shorten it if he wishes. Xx

Maybe they have changed the rulings now then cos of all the mrsa etc

Can I ask what hospital it is as I live in the Midlands too (sorry if thats too personal)

I bet thats their policy then cos of all the infections that other hospitals have suffered over the past few years.

I live in Tamworth but will be having baby at the George Elliot in Nuneaton as only just moved ths way and didnt want to change this far on.

Im having a section too and not sure whether oh will want to let alone be allowed to cut it (new partner from other kids)
