C-section hospital stay?

I have heard avg stay following a section is 4 days. I know that it differs with each delivery and I may not even want to go home early! And obviously i need to ask my doc, but i am betting i will not get a straight answer! But my question is it 4 days plus the surgery day? So if I go in Monday, is Thursday 4 days? What are your experiences?

Mine was four days, but was after an EMCS, it may be different for an elective though. I can't really remember, but I think this was after the surgery, so was probably 4 and a half days in total, but was still 4 nights, IYKWIM. During that time I had virtually no sleep, so was dying to go home, but did get really good support on BF, they wanted to be sure we were doing OK at it before they let us out. That was in NZ though. Would your OB or MW be able to give you an idea of how long they expect you to be in for?

Hey there, I had my section (elective as bubs was breech) on a Tuesday and went home on the Friday. I was glad to stay that long as I got heaps of help!! I had the option of staying over the weekend but went home. I'm in the UK.

I was in for 5 days after a EMCS with complications. As much as it would have been nice to go home, I would have stayed another few days if they said I had to. I was in a private room and learned so much from the nurses about bfing and caring for LO. The thing I really missed when I got home was the adjustable hospital bed, it was so hard getting in and out of my own bed

All my OB says is 4 days is how long I keep my c-sections. So I know he does more/less depending on the patient. A friend of mine sees same doc and she had an emergency CS, went sectioned Wednesday and was home by noon on Friday! By choice she begged to go. I just hate the idea of being uncomfortable and wanting to take care of LO and having to be stuck in the hospital!

I have a c-section booked and they have told me on average it is around 2 days stay.. depending on how you are and if you are able to go to the toilet ok etc.. we shall see lol

I had a csection Friday lunchtime, out of hospital sunday lunchtime! X

i had my EMC on wednesday and left on friday -i was dying to get out of there! i think it depends on how your recovery goes.

Rockstar I am thinking that would be perfect. Of course I may be begging to stay too! honestly I would ratherrecover at home!

Hi Hun I had a section early hours on the 2nd July and went home on the 3rd by choice and was hoovering
my stairs on the 4th lol

LO was born on 11th and I was home on 14th. Would have been home on 13th but LO wasn't taking boobie at that point so stayed in until she worked out what the fleshy pink thing I kept wiggling in her face was for.

I was out with in 2 days. I freaking hated being in the hospital, and the baby nurse wouldn't leave us alone at night for just a few hours to get some sleep. Plus they were doing some construction next door, and I couldn't rest during the day.

Monday, induced. Tuesday, EMCS. Wednesday, stay. Thursday, left. They wanted me to stay Friday but I flat out refused.

I had a emergency section with my son son was in 3 days, also i have a planned c section booked for 2 weeks fri, been told 3 days again, so we will see how it goes

induced on 23rd, EMCS on 24th early morning, I had some bleeding issues so i was in the hospital until the 28th....i was going stir-crazy, my nurse actually came in and caught me washing the walls. I have heard though the average is 3-4 days plus its nice to have the extra help after since you are a bit sore :S

I had my EMCS on thursday and was home Monday with my daughter.

I had my emergency c section on Sunday afternoon and was home on the Monday afternoon, I was up and about as soon as I was out of recovery though, they checked my hemoglobin level that morning, all was well so no need to stay.. would of driven me mad staying any longer I must say.

Mine was an emergency c-section after long induced labour, and I was released from hospital 2 days later

I had my EMCS on a Saturday evening (was scheduled for one 2 days later due to my sons gigantic size and my tiny self, he was 10lbs4oz and I'm 5'1") Anyway, I went in b/c I was contacting regularly, turns out I was 7cms!!! So they did the section at 7PM and I was discharged Wednesday afternoon. So four nights, but I had some complications with blood loss during the csection.

i had an emcs and that happened at night, i stayed one more tortuous night then left.l

hospital was fucking horrible.

i did choose to go to the birth centre in my town for another night though but i didnt have to.
