C-Section - Out of hospital on the same day

I had my second daughter by EMCS at 11.45pm and 12 hours later they were ready to discharge me. I wanted to stay and insisted that time.

I was discharged early (24 hr) after having my first CS and certainly was not well enough to go home. DH had no idea how much I was suffering and we had visitors insisting on coming round when I was definitely not up to that either.

State of the NHS, they need the beds.

I never felt rushed if anything i wanted to go home but they wanted me in.

I had DD at 11:14pm 16th Oct, went home 4pm 18th Oct then my large stitch out 10am 21st Oct.

I was stuck in the shower at 11am on 17th, could barely move as being upright was too painful as was being slouched. I would have probably been allowed out earlier if I could pass urine by myself. Because it hurt that much, I held everything in. I would honestly say you'd get more help being at home than in a hospital though.

Consultant advised me this time it would be 3 days guaranteed if I opted for ECS.

I was really lucky- I was able to go back to our local Mlu to recover as it is quiet there. Stayed 4 nights there and having an electric bed and the support of the midwives for breastfeeding was amazing. I felt very lucky indeed.

Omg I would simply refuse to leave after 24h. I was still on strong pain meds 3 days after my planned section. I stayed in 5 days in total and really needed the rest. I'll be having my 4th cesarean in October and will stay in 5 days again. We have moved area so it's a different hospital but my midwife said that would be fine and I cannot be made to leave unless ready. On the flip side I have friends who asked to leave the following day but I personally would not feel ok going home so soon after a major operation x

I really think you should consider staying longer if you can. You won't be able to do much for your daughter if you go home and you need to concentrate on resting and that's a lot easier without all the pressures of homelife. I stayed in for 5 nights! One night at hospital and then another 4 at my MLU . It's a small thing, but being able to use the electric bed to sit up made a massive difference. By the time I went home I was walking ok short distances and I healed really well as I had rested. Also, I think I only had to give myself one anticlotting injection as I had had them all in hospital.

OMG just realised I have already replied to you! Brain has left the building.
