Now I've had to strip it back and start again :hissy:

The moral of the story is, stick to the plan!!!!

thanks hun!

Just roll out the icing, make sure its not too thin. Dampen the board with water, Lay the icing over the board and trim it with a sharp knife. :)

Best to let it dry overnight so its not so fragile. (something I didnt do yesterday, hence the disaster earlier on!)

hi girls...andrea that cake looks fab...ive seen very similar ones on the internet (with the chess pieces, but i too havent seen any of the films or read the books so i have no idea what the connection is! LOL)

its lovely....

as for covering the board....u can do it the way Andrea said (by covering it, then putting the cake on top) but when u cut into the cake u end up with VERY sticky gloopy fondant underneath, i usually ice the cake on the board......then roll out a long piece, and add it round the sides....you also waste less fondant that way!! or some people cover the board with wrapping paper for different effects.

as for the jungle cupcake covers....they are so cute!! are they from wilton? i can get my hands on a few wilton items...what are the names of them?

Yeah they are from wilton hun. I want all of them except for the circus themed ones :)

yeah they are the new ones, ill have to wait till i get my new catalogue to see if they are available to me.....you can also try ebay ;)

LOL Tracey I tried your way once and was crap at it! So took th easy route, forgot to say though, I do cut a circle out of the fondant before I lay the cake on it!!

Thats usually the first thing I think of!! :dohh: LOL

I've been thinking lately. I'm only going to sell cupcakes. I really don't feel comfortable enough with my big cake making abilities :(

I am doing Thomas' birthday next week and I will only be making them for friends and family as birthday gifts

I find making and decorating the cupcakes so much easier! The only problem is if I am to sell them via the net then I can only send them with icing not butter icing or frosting :( coz I wrap them in bubble wrap to make sure they are well packaged!!

you could just sell them local for now?

Good idea on the cake front, I've been doing it a year and still dont feel confident enough to charge for cakes! Hence why I am always out of pocket when i do make them for people!!!

you could post fondant cupcakes, and keep buttercream ones local x

lol, i have to say it is quite difficult!! i find covering the whole thing is WAAAY easier...i just didnt like the waste n the gloopy mess afterwards LOL

i would just sell them local too....imagine you are on the other end......youve been dying to get cupcakes n finally they arrive through the post.....only to open them n youve paid good money for ones that have been squashed or demolished in the post......i wouldnt be very happy!!. your best bet is to do local....i dont send mine, if they dont collect...they dont get it, simple as that! LOL
