Calling all stay at home Mummies!!

:hi: Hello!!

I am officially now a SAHM as i finished work last week!

I am 26, Olivia is nearly one and I am very new to this stay @ home wifey thing! Strange but very much looking forward to spending time with my little chunky chops!

Oooo Can i join please? :flower:

Hi there Cassandra welcome to the thread! it is very strange being at home after working full time and I am still not used to it!

is anyone else really struggling with the feeling of no income? DH covers us both comfortably but i still have that horrible feeling of being penniless! xx

Yes I find it horrible! I have the child benefit and tax credit paid into my account, plus maintenance from my DD's Dad but it doesn't even cover my half of the bills so DH is giving me some - I hate the feeling! I know that I am still 'working' as looking after M is harder than any other job I have had - we should get paid to do it!!!

Hi ladies,

Can I join as well?

I'm Emma, my little girl Wren is 4 weeks and I gave my notice a week or so ago. I had to give my notice early as I had to give 3 months notice according to my contract and I only get 3.5 months mat leave here so when Wren was 2 weeks I had to call my boss and give him the news.

I thought I would feel really good giving my notice, especially as I was unhapppy at work but I felt realy unsettled after the call ( I work from home in Switzerland and my boss is based in Texas, USA so it had to be by phone!) I think perhaps I feel like that because I have always worked and earned money. MY OH is obviously going to support me but it will be wierd I think, as we are foreigners here we do not qaulify for any benefits either so no little 'income' for me.

So far being a SAHM is going well, I was a bit nervous when the OH went back to work but Wren and I seem to be doing well even though she is hard work during the day as she won't settle for more than 5 minutes!

I look forward to getting to know you all!

its easier being a SAHM in the summer as you can "ignore the housework" and go to the park etc, whereas in winter your stuck in the house and can see it.

what we found the hadest was when OH got made redundant and couldnt get a new job for ages, we had 6months of job seekers allowance as only income, we really struggled and got into abit of debt because of it. we are now 3yrs on and only just clearing some of it.

a friend of mine is a SAHM and she loves it, but she can bake - she always has a cake of some sort cooking, whether it be a bigg sponge or muffins! and this takes up her "bored time" and doesnt cost much. i cant bake and my sponge cakes turn out like overgrown biscuits! LOL!

I hate the feeling! I know that I am still 'working' as looking after M is harder than any other job I have had - we should get paid to do it!!!

if you foster or adopt children, they do pay you extra on top of CB and tax credits to look after the child. but obviously if its your own child you chose to have them and therefore your fault as such. where as with the foster/adoption you have volunteered to do and so they pay you. but yes there should be a better wage for us mums.

work from home -

i have tried many of the work from jobs over the years, and been caught out on a few false 1s.
*kleeneze was hard work and you got very ;little money unless you had a big team of recruits under you as you got a % of what they made.
*avon didnt work as there were too many agents in the aarea.
*herbal life again you need a team under you to make money as you get a % of what they earn and not many people were interested in herbal products in my area.
*delivering the local free newspapers - used buggy as my cart etc but it paid nothing so decided to leave to teenagers!
*making christmas crakers - slave labour was the words! you got paid 3p per cracker you made, and they could be fiddly to do.
*mystery shopper - this was ok but i ended up buying things i would never use and in shops i didnt usually shop in, so probably looked suspiscious to the staff. yes they sent you the money to buy stuff and you then filled out pages of info on the condition of shop (tidy/messy etc), the staff (polite, rude, how long to ask if you ok etc), the price (cheap/dear), usefulness of product after testing. its ok if you have a good memory and shop in a wide range of shops!
*taking internet surveys and visting paid to click sites - this DID work but could be very time consuming - 20mins per survery for about 40p and 2p per click web site. didnt give you much money.

false 1s -
*envelope stuffing, you send us a cheque for your kit and we will send you the goods, cheque gets cashed you get nothing!
*proof reading of books, you do the training course/manual they send you and send it back and recieve nothiing more.
*"house hunting" you register with companies and inform them of houses that are for sale in the area by filling in a form, if its 1 not in their database they pay you £1 per house - never got anything.

all of these were in an attempt to get a bit extra money into the house, and failed so i gave up on the idea. BUT if anyone knows of any genuine 1s that pay a bit more than peanuts, please let me know.

Hiya Emskins and welcome to the thread :) How are you finding BF? I managed it for 3.5 months before finally admitting defeat (M was on the boob 24/7 little booby monster!)

Amy I have always wondered about home working and thought that the jobs were prob mostly scams or so not worth it!

Ive given in i thought i would love being a SAHM, but i feel so uneasy about not earning so ive started my own business! xx

Aww glad it went well Amy didn't know you were having him christened, have you any pics to share?

hello can i join?!

Im Lauren (23) married to Darren (27) who is a submariner in the Navy.

I am a SAHM to Ben who is 13 and a bit months and a right cheeky one!

I will be s SAHM until we finish having babies and they are all at a stage where i dont have to sort out childcare, so perhaps part time when the youngest is in pre school?!

With Darren being away a lot i might as well be a single mummy and i just dont think id be able to cope with babies and work as well as keeping a house going! I live where he is based 500 miles away from any family so really am on my own when he is away!

He is away at the moment and i just found out i was pregnant, Squidge was conceived in the final days before he left and even tho we werent preventing it, we didnt expect it to happen so soon especially with him being in his tin can under the sea!!!

Hi Lauren welcome to the thread (it has gone a bit quiet recently!) How far on are you? Must be hard work coping when your dh is away, I am struggling a bit too cos my DH is doing a degree course on open university so I have to do all the housework, gardening and looking after M most of the time!

hi,

hope all are well. not been upto much lately. found my fish tank had a load of babies swimming around, so have had to go and buy a floating hatchery to stop them getting eaten.

blake now has 3 teeth, can stand up if he has something secure enough to pull himself up by.

Hi all

Amy how cool, what sort of fish are they? any luck sorting out a house in the lakes yet?

hi,

guppies (tropical), only problem is they can breed every 4-6 as they store sperm for upto 6months!!! since posting original i now have 33 babies and the other female i bought pet shop is also pregnant, i have no idea what i'm going to do with them as fish shop wont take them and i have no other tank. and the babies can start to breed at3months of age!

i didnt buy them to breed i bought them for the kids to look at etc.

house, we have 1 as of this weekend IF we can find the security deposit etc but i dont know anyone that can loan me £700 until house sale goes through. (sounds alot but when you think its 6 weeks rent and their admin fee, its not too bad.) this place will take both kids and pets whereas most wont.

Hi Ladies!!!
My name is Dana, I have a little girl called Alayna who is coming up to 13 months :)
I have been married for 3 years and nearly 4 months!
I am a SAHM and will be till she goes into part time free daycare! I love it and play loads of games with her and take her on walks!
She learnt to walk at 11 months and I feel me being with her helped her develop so fast.
Look forward to getting to know u all xxx
