its easier being a SAHM in the summer as you can "ignore the housework" and go to the park etc, whereas in winter your stuck in the house and can see it.
what we found the hadest was when OH got made redundant and couldnt get a new job for ages, we had 6months of job seekers allowance as only income, we really struggled and got into abit of debt because of it. we are now 3yrs on and only just clearing some of it.
a friend of mine is a SAHM and she loves it, but she can bake - she always has a cake of some sort cooking, whether it be a bigg sponge or muffins! and this takes up her "bored time" and doesnt cost much. i cant bake and my sponge cakes turn out like overgrown biscuits! LOL!
I hate the feeling! I know that I am still 'working' as looking after M is harder than any other job I have had - we should get paid to do it!!!
if you foster or adopt children, they do pay you extra on top of CB and tax credits to look after the child. but obviously if its your own child you chose to have them and therefore your fault as such. where as with the foster/adoption you have volunteered to do and so they pay you. but yes there should be a better wage for us mums.
work from home -
i have tried many of the work from jobs over the years, and been caught out on a few false 1s.
*kleeneze was hard work and you got very ;little money unless you had a big team of recruits under you as you got a % of what they made.
*avon didnt work as there were too many agents in the aarea.
*herbal life again you need a team under you to make money as you get a % of what they earn and not many people were interested in herbal products in my area.
*delivering the local free newspapers - used buggy as my cart etc but it paid nothing so decided to leave to teenagers!
*making christmas crakers - slave labour was the words! you got paid 3p per cracker you made, and they could be fiddly to do.
*mystery shopper - this was ok but i ended up buying things i would never use and in shops i didnt usually shop in, so probably looked suspiscious to the staff. yes they sent you the money to buy stuff and you then filled out pages of info on the condition of shop (tidy/messy etc), the staff (polite, rude, how long to ask if you ok etc), the price (cheap/dear), usefulness of product after testing. its ok if you have a good memory and shop in a wide range of shops!
*taking internet surveys and visting paid to click sites - this DID work but could be very time consuming - 20mins per survery for about 40p and 2p per click web site. didnt give you much money.
false 1s -
*envelope stuffing, you send us a cheque for your kit and we will send you the goods, cheque gets cashed you get nothing!
*proof reading of books, you do the training course/manual they send you and send it back and recieve nothiing more.
*"house hunting" you register with companies and inform them of houses that are for sale in the area by filling in a form, if its 1 not in their database they pay you £1 per house - never got anything.
all of these were in an attempt to get a bit extra money into the house, and failed so i gave up on the idea. BUT if anyone knows of any genuine 1s that pay a bit more than peanuts, please let me know.
