no its forward facing. they can go into forward facing at about 9kg, 9months, when rear facing is unsafe or when too big for rear facing.
the way i saw it was if OH had to do an emergency stop blake could end up with broken legs as his knees are constantly bent in rear facing seat with feet touching the back of car seat. therefore not safe!
the straps on the car seat go small enought to hold him tightly so obviously he is secure, had the straps not gone small enough i wouldnt dream of putting him in it. as long as you secure it into the car properly and the straps go small enough you should be fine.
a friend of mine has a 4month old girl and she has her in a forward facing seat as she is so long. most ppl thtink she is about 7-8months old cos of her length, she's not huge in weight though.
