I know this is horrible but I don’t understand all the methods on helping you conceive or plotting or taking temps right now I feel like I don’t want to pressure myself with all that stuff. And I feel like my cycle has been jacked up. Before I had my son I had been off birth control for 1 month before getting pregnant with him after having him I had an IUD put in and didn’t have a period for 3 years. I got my IUD taken out in in March and got pregnant in May and ended up having a MC in Aug. After my MC in Aug it took my body 7 weeks to get AF now we are in our first month of TTC again my first AF started on AUG 11. So thinking since my last AF was like my normal self (6days heavy the 1st day) and I normally have a 28 day cycle when should I take a test?

Hi JasmineFrame,

Usually you'd ovulate ~14 days after your period starts (for me it's usually 15 days). In terms of testing: If you conceived and the fertilised egg started to implant, some tests might show a positive result about 4 days before you would expect your period (so for a 28 day cycle, maybe you could test on day 24). Some might even show up earlier but it's unlikely. I like to wait until I've missed my period by 1-2 days. Last time I waited 1 week (!)

Depends if you want to be an "early tester" (test 24-25 days after your period), or wait a bit longer in which case you should know right away if you are pregnant or not (29 days after your period). If you do it early it might be *too* early so you get a negative result, but in fact you are pregnant, you just don't have enough of the hCG hormone yet to be detected in over-the-counter tests. In that case you need to buy more tests anyway!

HTH!

I'm sorry for your loss. I also had a mc (D&C) in Aug.
I think you started AF on Oct. 11 (not Aug. 11), is that right? You might expect it again on Nov. 8 if your cycle is how it used to be, so you could aim to test around then or a couple of days before. Who knows though if your cycle is "back to normal" in terms of timing.

yes i ment OCT 11 i tested on Sat got a (-No) but like you said it may be to early to test idk i dont feel pregnant so im thinking this month it didnt happen. Thank you for explaining everything to me

It might be useful to use OPK's at least, if this isn't your month, so you can determine approximately how long your luteal phase length is (if you're not familiar, that is the length from the day you ovulate to the day you start your period). While your cycle length can vary, your luteal length is typically pretty close to the same, or within a day. I have ovulated anywhere from day 12 to day 18 causing my cycle to fluctuate from 26 days to 30. Although it's usually day 14 or 15, the variance can cause major false hopes in that last four days of a longer cycle!! I really like temping, if you haven't tried it. It actually gives me an odd sense of peace and control...but I do understand it's not for everyone. Some girls get really stressed over it. I gave it up one cycle because I wanted a "break" and found that to be the worst cycle for ttc because I had no idea what was going on! But i'm a total control freak:blush:

my husband doesn't want to do all that so if I did I would have to sneak it and I don't want to go behind his back he just wants it to happen naturally I guess. He seems to think im pregnant though

I guess he doesn't understand that this decision isn't up to him - it's up to YOU! :)

Anyway, I find temping difficult... if you have to get up in the night or early morning (before your "wake up time") it can throw everything off. I'm glad I gave it a shot though.

Well I agree with you but I don't want to do those things im trying to relax and just BD a lot in the hopes that something sticks. My doctor said the more relaxed you are the easier things can happen so im going with that for right now. Im still pretty young (26) so I don't feel super rushed

Age is a major factor...I would probably be a lot more relaxed if I were a touch younger. I'm only 32 but my husband is 47 so...for the sake of his future retirement, we'd like to conceive soon.

I understand about the husband wanting it to come naturally too. Mine was not thrilled with all this either, but he did adjust and although there have been a few bumps, it's a good system for me.

Fingers crossed your husband is right! Baby dust to you!

JasmineFrame - I agree, you're still very young :) it's great to have age on your side.

Ltweety - I conceived my first child at 32. I was lucky that we didn't have to try hard at all back then! :) (I'm 37 now).

Wishing you all luck and baby dust!
