Hi,
I'm new to Baby and Bump and having a bit of a nightmare sorting out my entitlement to maternity pay/maternity allowance. I hoping someone here on Baby and Bump may be able to point me in the right direction, with regards to what I should do. I contacted my HR department a few months ago with reagrds to sorting out what I would be entitled with reagrds to Maternity pay, and they are still messing me around. I used to work as an hourly paid sessional tutor for a local authority up until the end of July, when I stopped working to look after my 2 kids who were at home during the hols. Initially, I was informed by the department, I would only be entitled to Maternity allowance as I had infact given my notice. I was fine with that, and asked them to complete the SMP form and send it back to me, so I could then forward it onto the the MA department for my claim. The HR department sent me a blank unfilled SMP form back, and didn't put in the reason they were not going to pay me SMP on the form. Since then I've been trying to get them to just fill in the form and send it back to me, as I can't claim MA without it. I'm getting desperate to get it sorted out and I can't understand why they didn't fill it in, in the first place. I definitely entitled to it as I worked for them for nearly two years. I was just wondering if anyone could perhaps point me in the right direction with regards to what to do next. Time is ticking by, and I really need the money.
