can i collect urine in the morning and test in the evening?

am on day 31 by today. i tested yesterday and it came out negative. mine is normally a 26/27/28 day cycle. i did not have hpt in stock. so i collected urine in the morning in a cup and had kept it open in the bathroom ( did not think much before doing that). Evening after almost 10hrs i tested with a hpt and it came out negative.

Does it make the urine sample invalid after 10hrs or so? Please advice

I have kept a morning water sample for the GP / HPT year . I always use a water sample bottle what the GP gives me with a screw on top . Not sure if that makes much difference .

I’m not sure on the amount of time you can keep it unopened as I’ve never left it that long .
