Can I give my 1 year old flavoured bottled water?

I think its okay in small amounts, but I wouldnt make a habit of it. The sugar content is pretty high, and I def wouldn't switch to the sugar free kind. I think the alternative sweeteners are can be pretty bad for digestion because they aren't a natural form of sweetener. I know personally for myself, anytime I try to drink a diet drink with artificial sweeteners, etc it gives me a stomach ache. Every time.

Having said all that, I think giving her some right now to help with the constipation is okay, especially if she isn't drinking much else right now. You can always try to switch back to plain water, diluted juices after the constipation passes.

Have you tried making your own flavored waters? You can just cut up some fruits and place in a pitcher to steep with the water, naturally flavoring it. see if she likes that:)

Im the same with sweetners, I cant drink any diet drinks as they give me really bad stomach ache

Thanks ladies, your responses have been really helpful. I love the idea of making my own flavoured water so I'll give that a try!

Just given LO some diluted goji berry juice in a washed out fruit shoot bottle (thanks for the tip!) and she seems quite keen! She has a nasty cold at the moment so hoping the goji berries will help with that too - two birds, one stone!

I'll try making some flavoured water with some fruits that I know she likes - berries, mango, pineapple - see what she thinks! If anything it will be an achievement just to get her drinking confidently from her sippy cup as until now she has been a boob only kinda girl.

It doesn't really answer your question but have you tried a sports cap bottle (with normal water?) sometimes my daughter refuses water but practically falls over herself to take it from the sports cap bottles lol. No idea why!
Just thought I'd mention incase you hadn't tried it x

My two are exactly the same! I had some washed out Evian sports cap bottles. I had filled them with tap water and left in the fridge and they have never wanted something as much as they wanted them! They wouldn't accept water from the tap, they must of thought it lesser to the Evian bottled water :haha:

Yep. My son is the same! Or just a straw will see him downing a whole cup of water!

Omg this made me laugh!

I second the straw! Willow will drink anything through a straw!

She also has constipation, and was on a lot of meds but I've managed to wean her off by doing the following....(I choose giving her "bad" sugary drinks over medicating her when possible)

I mostly make homemade smoothies, milkshakes (just fresh fruit blended with milk, plus th occasional scoop of ice cream if it's hot or for a treat) and juices, but when i don't have the time or for nursery I buy the innocent smoothies for kids, or she has red grape or orange and mango tropicana.

Getting her to eat fruit itself is tough but she quite likes the fruit purees in pouches she can squeeze into her mouth herself, raisins and frozen fruit go down well....like the frozen packs of berries you get to make pies...she eats them like little frozen sweeties.

And shreddies have helped move her bottom along too!

As for flavoured water, I've never thought to give it to her and I would probably prefer to make my own or just infuse some water with a fruit tea then fridge it to make it cold, or slice of lemon/lime. However if it's all she'll take for fluid then pah go for it!
