Hi as th title says i need to have some more done on my teeth,
i will be flat on my back for 45 minutes...
I'm 20 weeks pregnant does anyone know what are they do's and don't on this thanks....

I'm pretty sure it's fine but you might feel a bit stiff after all that time. Plenty of pregnant women sleep on their back, it's one of those newer bits of advice, I'd never heard of it until this pregnancy (my 3rd).

It sucks having to have dentist treatment, I hope it goes OK.

Yes, you can. So long as you are comfortable doing it. You will not hurt yourself or your baby by being reclined in this position. . . I still sleep on my back most nights.. it's just where I am most comfortable.
Just no x-rays!!! :)

it might feel very uncomfy

since it's only on your teeth, i'd put a pillow or something under your back so your lower back is slightly tilted, so that your uterus isn't pushing on the veins etc that cause the uncomfy feeling. i often do this if i just lay in the couch watching tv and i can no longer find a good position to sit/lay in

or depending on how you can twist and turn there, turn your lower body slightly so you're laying on your side, at least with your lower body.
as long as your head is in the right position, that's all that matters right?

also, laying on your back isn't bad for baby if that's what your worried about,
if you can still do it and it feels ok, go for it

it will be fine hun, i had lots of treatment done throughout my whole pregnancy with my daughter, the only time the dentist had to stop treatment was when i was near to giving birth, because of lying on my bad for so long she was pressing on diaphram which made me very breathless and dizzy, nearly resulting in me fainting so he delayed treatment until i had her... xx

It's fine, my doctor says that as long as I'm comfortable I can sleep on my back throughout the pregnancy.

My ultrasound this week took 45minutes and I was laying on my back the whole time.

I am sure you will be fine - my level II ultrasound yesterday had me flat on my back for just under two hours. My back was aching afterwards - maybe you could ask to sit up and stretch in between things??? Good luck tomorrow!

It's fine. My ultrasound took an hour and I was on my back the whole time also.

i think you will be fine, i've got my 45min dentist treatment on the 14th and ill be near 25weeks. sucks that we have to do it tho!!!

The reason laying flat on your back after 4 months is bad because it can put pressure on the vena cava, which carries oxygenated blood to the lower half of your body, including to the baby, so putting pressure on it and decreasing blood flow decreases oxygen to the baby. It is slightly to the right, so if they will let you put a pillow under your right hip so that your lower back is slightly tilted to the left, it will be perfectly fine. Most women I've known have said that the dentist actually had them do it without them asking for it. And I don't think 45 minutes is that bad of a length of time.
