My emc i had dissolvable stiches at a different hospital than im going this time and i want dissovable stiches again if i end up having another one as i have a problem that i have a higher risk of getting infections and i dont wanna have stiches taken out ":( which wudnt help. Can i request they only use dissovabbles? Will i be able to find out if they even do it at st marys manchester? Everyone i know who has come from there has had those ones removed like staples at day 5 makes me cringe . They were so suprised at how fast id healed with the dissolvable stiches and as i hope to have 1 more baby i wud like the easiest way possible espesh i will have a 14month old running around while shes trying to get my staples out lol not ideal xx

I have no idea but just knowing what I know about piercings, the thought of thread holding your internal organs in scares the crap out of me lol ...the lower the gauge (meaning the thicker the stuff is through your skin), the less likely it is to tear. Staples are pretty thick so you don't risk your skin ripping as much as with thread. The skin around it is numb anyway so neither will really hurt coming out... but I guess if you don't have anyone watching your other baby, that can be a problem.

So u think the staples wud be safer? First time round i was lifting car seat driving etc after 2 weeks and only came out of hosp 1 week an 5 days after birth due to infections and daughters lung infection if i had stiches tht were just thread id be probably less mobile i think! Its annoying having all these questions but wont be able to get answers for alot more weeks! X

My SIL had and EMCS and her Dr. used glue, so she didn't have any stitches or staples to be removed. We are in the U.S. though.

Staples are definitly the safest I think. I'm sure all are fine but I totally needed the peace of mind that my intestines were in there as securely as possible :haha:
If you tell them your doctor asked you to bring a staple remover, the hospital will provide you with one, and you can ask anyone to take them out for you. Last time I thought it was a big deal that I needed to find a super talented person who specializes in this stuff, the nurse ended up having to read the instructions, then figuring it out on me lol next time I'm just getting my dad to do it and save myself the trip.

hya, my mum told me to tell them that i was having the running stitch, as her staples busted open !! but that was 25 years ago, i had a running stitch and healed very quick, the stitch took 2 secs to come out, so if your worried just tell your consultant what you would prefer and why xx best of luck xxx :)

thanks very much! is a running sticch like normal stiches? its nice too have other options that are safe i thought stiches would be hard to heal and stuff x xx:hugs:

I'm not sure whether one can choose in an emergency situation.
I had an emcs, and the Dr who performed did dissolvable. he does not do staples. My OB however, does staples and nothing else.
So it seems that if I want dissolvable next time I'd have to schedule when the same Dr ,not my OB is on call.
I'm in Canada. Not sure how it works there .

thank you im not siure either i will have to see when i go for my apointment thank u

when it was time for my stitches to come out she just nipped either side on the not and just pulled it out in one it was lovely as it had been itchy lol , but yes very quick and painless, as someone said i dont think youd be able to choose in an emergancy but i was able as it was an elective c section with my 4 yearold son, and that was in warrington hospital uk xx best of luck im sure youll be fine nomatter which you choose xxx :)

I had staples and went to the mall day four. I barely have a scar, and now can be out all day standing if I bring two ibuprofen.

congrat on you baby :) i exlusivly expressed for 6 months hope ur finding it okay!:hugs:

Definitely a challenge because no one else can grab her if she cries while I'm pumping, but getting there, thanks!

I'm from UK I. Had glue never had infection or splitting though of stiches and staples makes me feel funny :/ x

what kind of glue is this lol like they just put glue and thats it??

I am not sure but I can say that dissolvable stitches do not always fully dissolve! I had then with my planned c-section and about half of them needed pulling out anyway.
