As we all know...I am the queen of unique names...after naming our first son Lakai (La-kye)..it's Hawaiian (sounding) as I am half Hawaiian. And I would like to keep to that theme, but I am also not set in stone.

So far these are the names I like...but my hubby is REALLY on the fence or totally against the ones I have *'s by.

Akela (Ah-kee-la)
Kaimea (Ka-me-ah)
Kaia
Willow *
Journey/Jurnie/Jurnee * (I like this one because it's been a very long journey to this point, but my hubby HATES it because he thinks it's a hippie name?!)
Samantha (but I am on the fence because my sister had a dog named this..lol)
Savannah (but kinda sounds well...I dunno...)
Makoa (Ma-ko-ah)
Kainoa (Ky-no-ah)
Cairo

Opinions? Be honest...I am tough! :haha:

I LOVE the name Kaiya -- gorgeous! I vote for this one!

Also, love Willow & Journey -- but not so sure they sound "hawaiian"

I like Savannah... and Cairo is nice too but sounds more like a boy's name to me...

Not fond of the others, sorry...

Additional suggestions:

Kayliana
Kayleah
Kamia ("cam-me-uh")
Leilani
Laila
Amari
Aaliyah
Alaina/Elaina
Eliana
Amaya

Thanks ladies. I have to admit I cannot stand Hawaiian names with "lani" in them.

My faves are Kainoa, Makoa, Willow (though not Hawaiian) and Akela. But Kainoa and Makoa seem to be more usually boys names. And I have a very strong gut feeling this Boo is a girl!

They are both actually unisex names...but when I Googled the names and looked at images that came up, they were all men!

I wanted to add Sloan, my hubby is half Scottish....so..

Akela my fav goes lovely with lakai hunny
Like willow to
Lou
Xxx

if it is a blue bump, kainoa sounds amazing!!!

OMG! I absolutely love Makoa! Thats the first time ive ever heard it also, great name and really goes well with Lakai :cloud9: Lakai & Makoa... love it!

Do you ladies think Makoa or Kainoa could be girl's names? They are actually unisex Hawaiian names.

Makoa means "fearless". Its been my favorite name for soooo long!

Akela (Ah-kee-la) - Love it and definately goes with Lakai
Kaimea (Ka-me-ah) - again love it and definately goes with Lakai
Kaia - Too normal sounding for me and kinda clashes a bit with Lakai
Willow * - very pretty name dont know if it goes with Lakai though
Journey/Jurnie/Jurnee * - I love this name! definately my fav on your list but doesnt really go with Lakai me thinks.
Samantha - not too keen on it really, i know too many samanthas and well its just a little plain for my liking.
Savannah - sweet but again seems a little too normal for my liking
Makoa (Ma-ko-ah) - Love it definately goes with Lakai
Kainoa (Ky-no-ah) - Think it might clash slightly with Lakai
Cairo - Lovely name especially for a boy but think it doesnt go well with Lakai.

xx

i love Makoa! And funny enough, i knew a little girl named Cairo and she was such a special spirit I fell in love with that name instantly. but for me personally, i would want to go to Cairo, Egypt before naming my child that because you know people will think she is named after the city!

My name is Halsey (Hall-zee). It's mainly an english surname I believe, but I love it. It was safe from any teasing in school. The only issues I had were people that couldn't pronounce it if their life depended on it. Other than that I love it :) My middle name is my aunt's name (Corliss) also english. Her nn she went by was Corly.
