I'm 30 weeks and i'd say for the past week or so every now and again I've had some 'tightening' basically parts of my bump go rock hard. Its only ever down my right side or above my belly button. I've asked a few friends who have had babies before and they said it's definitely NOT BH as your entire stomach goes hard, rather than just one side and that it's probably just the baby in a weird position.

Is that right??

I'd love to know the answer to this as I experience the same thing! At first I thought it could be baby pushing out, but his back and bum is on the other side- verified by ultrasound. It's very weird!

It actually could very well be baby pushing out. They move around all the time in there, so just because his back was on one side during the ultrasound doesn't mean that he's sitting like that today!
Mine favors having her back and bum on the left, but she'll twist and suddenly I've got hard spots on the opposite side.

If it's one side it's probably baby pushing their bum out. Babys twist and turn their little bums around a lot.

Yep, it is probably a mix of possible BH plus baby being concentrated on one side (normal position) so the bum and back are very hard and tight.

At my childbirth class they said that we could get it on only one side. So it could be BH, or it could be the baby's butt.

I think it is a bit of both, I had one this evening which was ALL bump. It's not painful or anything though and no discomfort really, just tightening!

I asked a similar question a couple weeks ago. I would get tightenings only on the bottom of my bump and couldn't feel it in the middle or top at all. Now I get them where they tighten the bottom and the middle on both sides but I don't really feel it in the middle of the middle or top of my belly at all. I now know they are bh contractions because I have twice a week NSTs and they are measurable by quite a bit on the machine. I just can't feel it by touch or from the inside. It's odd. So, I'd say it's possible.

Def possible I was having them while on the monitor this week and the nurse was telling me when I would have one which was when I would feel it

Yes it CAN be BH contractions and I know this because of having NST's 2xweekly and because before the tightness releases I have a little muscle spasm just as the muscle relaxes. It is usually wherever the majority of baby is. I think you are likely actually having the contraction all over but you are noticing it as being on one side because baby's position makes it more dramatic where ever they are laying. I thought mine were on one side but have since poked with a finger all over and there were other places that were very slightly more firm then when I wasn't having the BH but I only notice this if I poke and prod all over my stomach with my finger, not by going on how my stomach feels itself.
