I know they say it's from 6 months onwards but in reality, can you use this type of pushchair from birth. See link... https://www.icandyuk.com/products_detail.php?id=peach_stroller

I was always going to get the Quinny Buzz but had 4 faulty ones and have been a bit put off. The plus point was that a friend was going to lend me the pram attachment, which they hardly used. That would save a lot of money.

I've fallen in love with the iCandy Peach but it's so expensive and I feel like I need to buy the pram attachment too. The person in John Lewis said that all shops have to say 'suitable from birth' now because of European safety standards, when they used to tell customers it was okay to use before. In reality, what baby will still be lying flat at 6 months.

Any advice. I don't want to damage my LO's back...

Thanks...

Sophie

If you want to use it from birth they are supposed to be able to lie flat so you would need the carrycot part.

I think the pushchair bit can actually lie flat. In the Peach FAQ's it says can you use the pushchair before 6 months (if baby is too big for the carrycot before then) and it says yes but only in "lie flat mode".

However, they definately still recommend the carrycot and I would still think you would need this would seem the most snug/secure for a newborn. Maybe by 3-4 months they could go into the pushchair.

I believe the Peach carrycot can be used for overnight sleeping too so makes the price a little bit less painful. Although its debatable whehter you need another breathable mattress or not - get a different answer on this whoever I ask!

Dont know about the i candy but i have the britax and in some places it says suitable from birth and others it says 6 months, very confusing. Look to see if it lies flat i think it is this that is needed if using it from birth. :-)

Hey :)
Im getting the icandy peach too! ask about a package deal, the shop i went to today would do the carry cot (suitable from birth!) the pram and the car seat and adaptors for £735 its the cheapest ive seen it so im defo going to get it! :) .its beautiful isnt it?.. x

I have got the icandy peach and you defo need the carrycot section for it to be suitabe from birth but i would not touch John Lewis for it as they are the most exspensive suppliers of it. I got mine all in with car seat and adaptors for £550 and that was the cheapest I was able to find it in Scotland.

I bought the apple from John Lewis and they price matched another retailers price for me. They just phoned the other shop to check.

dizzimaid, thats a REALLY good price. I think John Lewis works out at about £780 with the car seats.

John Lewis do price match though and I guess you get good customer service.

omg that is an amazing price!! £550!! do you think they would ship prams over to wales from scotland??

I got the Icandy Cherry and the same thing applies with the carrycot and the pram attachment, the pram attachment cant be used for newborn as it doesnt lie flat, it moves so its laying across and older baby can sleep but the actuall bit baby is lying on isnt flat its dipped for the bum if u get me. U do need the carrycot but i would say by the time baby is 4/5 months old they prob wont wanna by lying down so id use the seat...

I don't know if they ship else where but i had to travel to them to get it as they would not even deliver in Scotland. We had to travel from loch lomond to edinburgh and back to get it.

Thanks everyone.

As I thought, I probably need the carrycot for the first few months. The seat unit does lie flat(ish) but the legs would be up in the air, so the back would be flat but with the legs in the air. I wouldn't like to sit like that so shouldnt make LO do it.

I've got John Lewis to price match the pushchair part (I found it for 450 pounds). Dizzimaid, did that price actually include the pram, pushchair and car seat. Seems unbelievable.

Natlee, where abouts did you get yours. The thing with iCandy is it can't be bought online or over the phone so it's about what's available fairly close by. I can't get to Scotland unfortunately. I'm in the south at the moment but moving to Manchester, so anywhere closeish to either of these two places would be handy...

I really don't know what to do. I can save a good few hundred pounds by getting the Quinny. But I love the Peach.

Friends of mine that have babies of about 1 year old seem to be buying more lightweight strollers. If I get the iCandy I don't think I could justify not using it after a year after the price.

Oh decisions, decisions.

Thanks for the advice...

Sophie

Well its personal decision if you wanna get a more lightweight one later on.. i think a lot of these big big bulky travel systems just get to heavy to carry on using... but i cant see why you wouldnt use the Icandy after a year..
I think the peach is a bit more expensive than the Cherry (which i got) but i got mine for 550, pram pushchair, carrycot, carseat and footmuff. We went to a local store not a big retailer and we bargained and got 10% off.

iv found the peach now for £715 in bridgend with pram/carrycot/carseat & adaptors.. im ordering it on friday but i cant actually get it until december if i want the black one as its out of stock until the next delievery in december. i could get the blue & lime green {sweetpea} in november though, im not due until december 27th so i think im going to wait for the black one :) .. x

Soph&bump i know it sounds too good to be true and thats why we traveled so far to get it as we realised we were not going to get a better deal. When we were in the shop they explained the reason they are able to offer such good prices is their way of trying to take business from the big retailers as this is a small independant shop.

The two stockiest in manchester are

lesters nurseryworld

bumpsbabiesandbeyond

They will price match each other

We got a package deal for peach stoller, carrycot, footmuff, car seat adapters, car seat and isofix base for £819

(sorry can't post links: but both easily found on google)

Dizzymaid, where abouts did you get yours from in Edinburgh as we're in Glasgow? thanks!

We're getting the apple...and defo getting the carrycot winter baby so the carrycot will be much more snug and we're not getting a moses basket we have a crib for our room so if babba is sleeping and I want him down stairs I'll pop him in the carrycot!

I dont think the peach is all the dissimilar to the apple I would say that the carrycot is probably more suitable for a very young baby.

Depends how long you plan to have your baby in it for at a time really.

For instance travel systems can have a car seat on them and these are suitable from birth but only for short periods of time so if your pushchair seat doesnt lie completely flat so long as baby is secure they'd be ok in it for a short time.

I have just picked up my iCandy apple plus carrycot and I love it. Quite similar to the Peach. We got the apple stroller, carrycot, car seat, isofix base, car seat adapters and cosy toes for the stroller seat for £768. They say they are unable to offer a discount as iCandy do not allow it so they throw in freebies instead (cosy toes, car seat adapters). This was in a shop in suffolk.

I dont think I would fancy putting newborn in the seat unit as it is quite open to the weather and not very protected. x

The car seat in travel systems should not be used for long periods at a time, it really can affect breathing! They really do need to lie flat

Alex's discharge nurse explained that on trips etc we must make sure baby gets a break after 2 hours or so(kinda goes without saying when they need fed)
