Turns out I have an infection in my girlie area (I had stitches when my son was born), and an infection in my right breast. I noticed little red bumps on it and realized when I was breastfeeding it was unbelieveably sore, all the time even to touch it, it was sore. Well I'm on anti-biotics now and don't want to give my little one diarrhea from the breast milk so I'm pumping and giving him formula for now.
Just wanted to tell you if you're breastfeeding and notice that it's even a BIT sore, or you notice even a couple little red bumps on your breast, or if it looks a little red/purple and is tender to the touch then get checked out ASAP as it will make you very very sick! If you run a fever or feel nauseous then you should get checked out right away too - don't wait because if a breast infection gets too bad you may need to be hospitalized and will make you so sick you will feel like you're going to die. I learned the hard way!

Oh no, sounds so painful...I hope you get better soon :hugs:

If you're just worried about the antibiotics you might still be able to breastfeed (if you're not in too much pain, as it can help it get better faster) x

There's a whold list of antibiotics that are safe to take here: https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/pdfs/Antibiotics-and-Breastfeeding.pdf

'Continue breastfeeding, unless it is just too painful to do so. If you cannot, at least express your milk as best you can in the meantime. Restart breastfeeding as soon as you are up to it, the sooner the better. Continuing breastfeeding helps mastitis to resolve more quickly. There is no danger for the baby.' The breast infection is mastitis, and keep pumping if you don't want to feed. What happens is a clog forms and infection sets in around it. To help, get in a warm shower, and massage the knot. Yes this hurts like hell, I have already had 2 bouts of mastitis, but it will help break up that clot faster. I would massage for a good 10 minutes in the shower. Then pump and pump and pump on that breast.
