I'm trying so hard to breastfeed but its getting me down, she wants feeding every hour. I feel like I'm not coping. Should she want this much? Is every hour too much? Am I not doing it properly?:hissy::cry:

It depends on the baby. when they go threw growing spurts it seems like the want to eat ALL the time. It does get easier don't give up.(i breastfeed both my boys to 12 mths) As long as you are nursing her on both sides i am sure you are doing fine she is still real young and is learning just like you.

When i had my daughter she used to feed all the time, give yourself chance to get your milk supply established...it feels like your constantly feeding but just let her feed when she wants to...its new to Chloe as well as you but just give yourself get settled into a routine. I really wanted to give up after a week but i kept at it and managed for 4 months!! I'm plannin on feedin number 2 aswell. Good Luck hun xx

This is perfectly normal. We spend the first six weeks nearly constantly attached to baby.

This creates prolactin receptors in our breasts for good and efficient milk production.

This helps regulate supply. Baby is having several growth spurts and needs comfort and to learn how to suck effectively and efficiently.

This all takes time! Hang in there - you're doing a great thing for both you and your baby!

It is totally normal Amy, don't feel bad. Just cuddle up with your girl and feed her as much as she wants. It will get better, and you won't feel like your are constantly feeding, it just takes time. Remember she is used to having a constant food supply, and having to work (sucking) for food is a whole new game. Hang in there love, you are doing great!

Hang in there- she's only a week, right? My son was feeding every 45min- 1 hour probably for the first 2 weeks, then he slowed down a little (was still eating every 1- 1/2 hours). Try to master the laying down and bfing thing- it will allow you to get some rest while she feeds. You also need to remember your body is going through a TON of changes right now and feeling overwhelmed, whether by bfing or something else is totally normal. There is no guarantee if you stopped bfing that you would feel any better- you might end up feeling overwhelmed by all the time bottle feeding consumes. So try to just hang in there a little longer, take care of yourself, and know that this difficult period will end when your hormones stabilize and when bfing stabilizes.
