Can't find the heartbeat with doppler

girls i am freaking out!! i ordered a doppler for hire off the internet - and i was so excited to hear bubba's heartbeat. But i can't find it - nothing. I can hear my own - but nothing else. I am scared to death now...did anyone else have a problem finding heartbeat at first? i am 12 weeks 1 day.

Please DO NOT WORRY!!!!!!!!!! This is why midwives wont use dopplers till 16wks!!!!!!!!

Your baby maybe hiding behind your placenta, or it may just be in an awkward position, remember it is still very very small!!!!!!!!! I know some people can pick it up around 9-10 wks, but others cant ever, so just dont worry!!!!

If you have concerns phone your midwife, but she will say the same i would think. Try again at a different time of day.

thanks hun. I just thought (and this is really silly) that it would be really easy to pick it up and when i couldn't hear anything i just freaked out. I rang midwife and she said to send the doppler back and stop being so paranoid.

try not to worry hun , there are some days it takes me awhile to find my babys heart beat and other days that i find it right away , even though I know where the lil booger likes to hide , keep trying but remember if you dont find it that does not mean there is anything wrong . My doc told me his doppler dont work untill 12 weeks . use lots of gel and look really low by your pelvic area I always find mine on the right hand side . good luck hun

I lay for ages and started really low down just abovemy pubic done and had topush quite a bit. I had just angled to the left slightly when we heard it but for only a minute.

I then tried again alone last night in the same way but just couldnt find it anywhere until OH walked in and asked if I had found it and without moving the probe it appeared for 20 secondds then vanished! Hubby says to say hi to him

Today I tried again but just couldnt find it anywhere.

i was starting to panic after a while too so i think i was being a little erratic with the probe!!!! will try again tonight! xx

i couldnt find mine by myself until approx 26 weeks. Baby could just be lying inwards facing away. If your concerned speak with your mid wife, see what she says, about 8 weeks ago, i worried, hadnt felt anythin for the weekend, wen to the mid wife and as soon as she put the dopler on my belly, baby moved. Pregnancy is alovely, but worrying time. its the unknown. Try not to get yourself in a state. the heartbeat will be faint still dont forget.

Absolutely! Those pesky bubbas are still quite small and flitting around all over the place! I've found my baby all of once, for literally 10 secs! Then it must have moved again! Found lots of my heartbeat and wind though!!

There is definatley a knack to it and once you get it i think it becomes easier.
I never found it the first time, i had a second go with some advice from here (ill find the link) and got it the second time.
Also the instructions say use a full blader but that doesnt work for me, i find it better with an empty one and always to the left a bit (some find it to the right)

I received one this morning that I'd ordered for hire and guess what, I can't find it either lol!!

I can find mine quite easily, but can't find bubbas as yet. I tried twice, then decided not to worry about it. I'm only 11 weeks today, so I'll keep trying, ginfers crossed!

Have you tried pressing quite firm really low down,right above your pubic bone? This is where I found mine.Don't worry if you can't find it straight away.You will do eventually.It's because you don't know where to put the probe,lol. But low down is where it usually is,and press quite firm. Good luck x

i found it!! saturday morning - eventually and just when i was about to give up!!! it was amazing! but ever since then the little monkey is hiding from me!!!

Glad u found it hun , Its really harder in early stages as baby has a nack for wriggling all over .
Once baby gets a bit bigger , It will become routine kind of thing , You will then get an idea of where abouts baby allways is .
Have fun just placing doppler all over and trying if not found , Have a cold drink or a walk and try again . Good luck hun . xx .
