Ok, this is for anyone who doesnt know what castor oil is, what it does, why it is dangerous, and why you shouldnt even consider taking it...
Castor oil is a laxative which is not for regular use. It should NOT be taken in pregnancy. When it is used as an induction method, it can cause severe stomach cramping, severe nausea, diarrhea, dehydration etc.. none of which are good for a woman carrying an unborn child. It crosses the placenta which means it can have the same effect on baby. It was used as an induction method many years ago before any research and before any statistics could be shown. When the bowels are irritated, this can trigger contractions. But the severity of which it can effect you means it can also cause distress to baby, causing baby to pass meconium while inside. This is highly dangerous. It can also cause a drop in baby's heart rate as it can cause contractions to come on too quickly. It can also cause baby to be born dehydrated and in need of special care. Some babies have lost their lives due to castor oil induction. I have seen myself first hand what castor oil induction can result in, and its not nice. I have also done research on it myself. Its not worth risking your childs health, or even their life for. It is very dangerous and highly irresponsible. And if anyone tells you they took it and were fine, they were just lucky.
