OK u guys upgrade on my preg. LOL*WENT to the fetal miternily docter today because of my history of miscarge and premuture delivery. WELL kinda scared he said so far so good but he recommended cerclage with progstrin shots. I really dont want to get a cerclage im scared of the 5 percent chance of miscarge. DOES any one have had a history of dialating early . I m not dailated so far but has any one had a history like me and only went with the shots and did fine let me know ladies thanks

U mean a cerclage? As in cervical stitch ?

sorry I dont have any history that is helpful, id talk the risks with your doctor though is there are more than 5% chance if you just take the shots and not the stitch?

Go to the gestational complications section there is an "incompetent cervix" thread that can offer you much help as well as a very experienced and helpful member named lizzydripping. I ony know of this because it's a big fear of mine ( although I have no experience with it) . However, if your dr s recommending one I wouldn't refuse it!! Gl xx

Thanks ladies laila im to scared to do it even if he recommeds it

The thing is that if u refuse the stitch and u start to dialate early you risk loosing the baby. From the women I know that have done it thy all went on to have healthy pregnancies.

I was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. When I was 23 weeks I dilated all the way to 6cm before I noticed anything, and by then it was too late to do anything(although they tried). So I will be getting the stitch this time around.

I would also recomend going over to the gestational complication page I'm sure they would be lots of help with people who have already got the cerclage!

Please don't be scared of getting a cerclage. I lost my first child from an incompetent cervix at 21 weeks. When I got pregnant again, they weren't positive if I had gone into early labor or had an incompetent cervix so they put me on progesterone shots. At 19 weeks my cervix suddenly went from 3.8cm to 2mm! They did an emergency cerclage, I was on bedrest, and we had our daughter at 35 weeks. She's 9 months old now and perfectly healthy.

We're pregnant again (for the last time since my body has so much trouble staying pregnant) and now that they KNOW it's an incompetent cervix, they will be putting a preventative cerclage in between 13 and 15 weeks with the goal of hopefully going to term this time and less bedrest.

One way of looking at the bright side, with a cerclage in my doctors check on cervical length, and offer a quick peak at the baby, once a week from the date they put the cerclage in until delivery and yours may well do that also. It was nice getting reassured once a week that everything was still ok!

My mom had one, and obviously I'm here. I know of another woman who had one with her child and had a healthy baby. She's pregnant again and will have to have another and she doesn't seem worried about it. I have no personal experience, but just thought I'd point out that, so far, everyone I know who's had it has had healthy babies.

IM scared to do it i live with my parents but pay them rent and everything i have a baby girl thats 14 months and no one helps me with her my mother refuses to pick her up for five mint. BECAUSE she has a exuse of always saying your daughter is to hipper. AND my husband is working none stop so he can get us out of here. THE only thing i worry about is my daughter scared to death that my mother will nag about her. AS much as im ecxited to be pregnet again im now in the most stressful moment . I wish life was diffrent for me

It's not as bad as you think. I have had 3 cerclages which all ended with healthy babies. It's better to get it done early you might be able to avoid bedrest. I wasn't on bedrest at all you just can't lift anything.

I will also be headed for a cerclage sometime this month.

IM more worried about my baby girl then anything eles i cant even sleep i keep thinking that couple hours or day that im going to be there whos going to take care of her btw when u toke it out did it hurt

I completely understand I have 3 kids and we don't really trust anybody with them so we just arrrange it when the hubby will be home to help. And the only thing you really feel is cramping thats about it. When you get it done it's done in the hospital but your only there a day and they take it out in your dr office. They just cut the stitch and pull it out
