My sweet little man is 4 months old and... 20 lbs!!! He is FF, as I developed a pp rash and could only BF until 6 weeks due to being on meds for it. I FOD, and don't push him to eat or finish his bottle, but my man has a huge appetite! He's also in the 95th percentile for height at 25.4 inches. My little girl was the complete opposite (she's 4 years old and only 30 lbs), so I'm in unfamiliar territory. lol

At his well baby check up, the Dr suggested starting a bit of rice cereal to see if it would fill him up so he wouldn't require so much formula. I tried it yesterday and today - just a tiny bit - and it went really well. Other than being so big, he was diagnosed as being in fine health (hooray for healthy babies!!!).

I was just wondering if any of you ladies had massive little ones who ended up slimming down as they got a bit older. I know it's not a guarantee, but I don't want my sweetheart to end up obese.

Please tell me my baby isn't headed into the Guiness Book of World Records!

Mine is nearly 18lbs and off the chart for his height. I am sure DS1 was chubbier at this age but he was a bit shorter

Yes, both mine were 91st-98th centile at that age. It was never suggested that they needed pointless solids to "fill them up". Milk is all they need until 6 months. I think the guidlines are different in the US compared to UK. In the UK we are advised not to offer solids until 6 months, whereas ladies in the US say their doctors advised that offering from 4 months was ok.
Both my daughters have slimmed out and their weight gain slowed alot from 8 months onwards. xxx

Thank you for the replies and reassurance. :)

I'm not going to push the solids. He seems perfectly satisfied with his bottles (although he watches me eat very intently! Haha!), and I, too, don't see any need to give him solids just to fill him up. But when the Dr. says he's off the charts for weight, it does make me second guess myself a bit.

Besides, I love my chunky butterball just the way he is. <3
