Just watching this on CH4 UK (they have a website) and there was a section on sperm count and the doc on there had his done and his was on the lower side. He said you should always have more than one test done coz it can vary lots.

Just for your info

im just watching that too, he makes it sound so easy though 'it only takes one'!

I just heard that! If only it were that simple!!

It really only does take one girls. My friends OH had a very very low count, and poor motility and was told it would never happen naturally. Guess what - shes having twins!! :)

But yes, most gynaes will always carry out repeats on low results as they can vary so much from day to day :)

I thought it was encouraging. I was watching it with DH who had to have second sample done as 1st was really low. Shows like this make it easier to talk about taboo subjects. I congratulate the show but the comment 'it only takes 1' was silly.

"It only takes one" IS silly, youre right...because although in theory it could happen, chances are very low, and its a strength in numbers game with sperm, thats why there are supposed to be so many of em! A huge percentage are supposed to die, so the chances of just one making it, or even one in a million, are small. Sorry to burst his bubble!

Still, it does happen

It does only take one, but its just not that simple!
I do like watching that programme though, as gross as it is!
Did anyone watch that programme that was on a while back, think it was on channel 4 called THE SPERM RACE? It was about journey the sperm has to go through to get to the egg.It was very interesting but it made me feel as though it was impossible to get pregnant! It does happen though or we wouldnt be here!

Me and Dh watched that and i knew most of the stuff but it was very educational for DH - he just didn't realise what sperm has to do/go through!

It is amazing that anyone ever gets pregnant after watching that! It is a long journey and by the end of it all the sperm have almost given up!

That's what DH couldn't believe - he was really disappointed everytime they said how many died at each stage

I know! its scared the hell out of me, I know it was just a way of explaining what happens but it made me feel like it was impossible!:dohh:

Fingers crossed we can all have a bit of luck and those little swimmers make it to the finish line!!!:spermy::spermy:
