Changed formulas and an ODD side effect?

Baby seems a little unsettled. He switched from sma gold to cow and gate after bad bouts of constipation and what seemed like excessive straining and pushing all day. I was advised by all my mummy friends that some babies find sma gold too rich and that it can indeed cause a typical symptom of constpation in some babies. They told me no need to graduate, just switch to cow and gate and all would be fine.

Well i started the first bottle at 10pm and usually he has a nappy change, bottle and sleeps, zonking for 3/4 hrs before next feed. But until 1am he wriggled and made squirming noises i havent heard, it was so odd. He was hungry for his 1am feed just the same but did the squirming and strained noises until 4am again, i feel he hasnt settled all night - i feel awful, have i given him an upset tummy as a result of switching ( and do i ride it out for a few days) or is it something else?

Thoughts? X ( ps hes still squirmy right now )

My little man has been doing eeeexactly the same squirming noises and looking like he's straining (but not doing a poo) for about 5 days now! Mainly all through the night! He's been on Cow and Gate since he was about 2 weeks old (he's now 5 weeks) and has been absolutely fine before, he even had got himself into a really nice little routine with his feeds etc and was great at sleeping during the night... but the past 5 nights, he just hasn't settled at all during the night! I feel really sorry for him because he looks soo uncomfortable but I just don't know what to do! Sorry that this doesn't relate directly to your comment about switching LO's formula - but maybe it's not necessarily linked to that? Hopefully someone can help us! x x x

Ethan was on C&G but we've just tried SMA Gold because Ethan is constipated and started to be sick, only once a day tho. He seems quite happy on it

my lo used to do this on cow and gate so moved him onto aptamil and it stopped but then he became windy - i have now been on hipp organic for 1 week after a friend told me its more gentle on the tummy and he is like a different baby - no straining or wind issues and he drinks 2 ounces more so must like the taste
