Child gate, top of stairs or bedroom door?

We have 3... across the hall on the 2nd floor landing... on Lucy's bedroom door and at the bottom of the stairs...

works for us

x

I have 3 gates - kitchen, bottom of stairs and bedroom door. The kitchen and stairs are non-trip

We have one across Louis' bedroom door and one at the top of the stairs :flower:

We have one on his bedroom door for night time (his room is next door to ours so we can hear if he wakes and he knows to shout for us) but I also have one of those fold down travel ones that I put at the top of the stairs if I am doing housework upstairs so hes got more freedom. Its really secure :-) x

its soooo dangerous to have them at the top of the stairs, pressure fitted or fixed..

i wouldnt recommend it at all. x

Why is it dangerous?

Genuinely interested not trying to start an argument.

xx

We have it on his bed room door. We used to have one on the stairs but we have 2 flights of steps in our house and you need to go down one to get to the bathroom and both OH, me and visitors used to constantly trip over it whilst half asleep so we moved it to LO's door as we were worried one if us would trip down the stairs. We live in rented too so can only used the pressure grip ones you can trip over.

We have it on his bedroom, he'd never stay in bed if it was just on the stairs!

Also interested to know why it's dangerous :).
When we're upstairs we always close the gate as soon as we're on the landing. I'd never feel comfortable having one for her bedroom as I'd feel like I'd be locking her in.

Ours is at the top of the stairs..... means I can do jobs upstairs or get a shower or something, and he can still roam and chat to me etc. His bedroom door closes and the handle latches, at the min, hes not quite big enough to open it, so thats ideal for bedtime x

we have 3 too, one at top and bottom of stairs and one on his room. he has been known to get out of bed-walk to his door then back again, he would forever be in our room if we didnt have it!

We used to have ours at top of stairs but them when our little girl went into her big bed she kept getting up and coming out her room and it turned into a game for her and one night I went up and found her asleep in the cats bed on the landing!! Lol! Was funny at time but it got frustrating and bed time got later and later!
So, we moved it to her bedroom door. If she needs me in the night, most of the time she just sits up in her bed and calls me or I hear her open her door. Since she knows she stays in bed at bed time she never comes to the door, only if she's woken up for the morning.
If we're upstairs and I'm having a shower, she just plays in her room with the bedroom door open and the gate shut. She's quite happy to do this.
Also if I'm just about upstairs cleaning she just follows me around but she's very good and knows not to go downstairs without me, still, I keep my eye on her, normally she's helpings clean anyways! ;-)

Ours are currently on the kitchen door to keep him out when the oven is on and his bedroom door. We've taken them off the stairs because he can manage the stairs fine and he only goes up or downstairs to follow us.

Always had one on her bedroom door, I don't think I'm ready to take it off because on the odd occasion where I've not shut it at bed time she appears downstairs minutes later!
