I sent sophias pictures to Elisabeth smith models, and they replied saying they would like to offer her a contract.

To be honest im not sure. they want £175 , but then i know other people with kids that have done modelling and their companys wanted some kind of fee.

And im thinking maybe they just accept most kids, the more kids, the greater chance of someone booking from them?

Anyway im not doing this cause im desperate for her to model , or some pushy parent wanting her to be famous, just something for us to do really, a bit of money for her trust fund maybe.

But im really not sure, i know its probably lots of travel ect.
any advice, thanks  x

I would say that it's the same as any similar agency type of company - If they want money from you up front it's probably not the best. If they had complete confidence in your LO as a model and their ability to get her work then they wouldn't ask for money up front as they would be taking a cut of all the jobs they were going to get her anyway.

I would google the company and see what you turn up in internet chatter. :)

Hmm, Elizabeth Smith is supposed to be very reputable and I know a lot of big companies use them like Mothercare but I would seriously question that amount of money from them. Brady was offered a place at an agency and they wanted £65 which was for pictures and to put a portfolio together and a charge to put him on their website. Have they met you? At your LOs age they should really meet her to see if they would be able to get her work as not all little ones are right for it even if they have the look clients want so what they are charging £175 for I don't know. There are other agencies though.

i'd ask what exactly the money is for does it get your LO a place on their website and a portfolio made those sort of questions

if you can afford it and its something you would like your LO to do then go for it but remember the amount of children signed to these agencies can be huge
sorry i don't have any experience or good advice x

I wouldn't trust a company that was asking for a fee. :flower:

i wouldnt pay

my lo does modelling and weve never payed any money

I work in advertising and one of my accounts was Cow and Gate.
About 20 babies would come to each casting which they didn't get paid for then 3 would be selected for the job because of the unreliability of babies. On the day the 'best' one would be chosen and the others would receive a nominal fee, maybe £100. It seemed a lot of hassle to me for a small chance of work.
Also, as someone else has hinted at, it isn't really about looks, more about behaviour as most babies are cute but not all are well behaved enough!

he works for a agencey i was signed to since i was young hes been doing it since 8 weeks

the money isnt good its about 60 for half day and thats before agencey fees taken out then youve got to take petrol there not left with much but weve had lovely pictures los been in lots of catoulgues and clothes shop adverts

yeah, i did a bit of research and elisabeth smith are listed on the mothercare website as one of the agencys they use,and parenting magazines use them, they seem to have a good rep. but it all seems a bit too much hassle for me, they need doctors medical certificate when you accept the offer, and each time they are ill they would need one. lots of travelling and waiting around it seems, which sophia would hate.
thanks all for your replys. xx

175 is really a huge amount for a little chance. I would say you should try some other companies. Whether this is their portfolio fee but it is not sure that they would give you a chance to participate. Let's see...!!!
