hi all.

Ive just started claiming child tax credits, we werent entitled to working tax creds as earn too much, but my question is im on MAT pay and i told them i get MAT pay and the rough amount and they are sending me the new amount that i will get paid, but then i thought i could remember hearing you dont have to declare your MAT pay...:dohh:

am i right in thinking this?

thanks:thumbup:

you don't hve to declare the first £100 each week x[

so do you think i should ring up again and say i gave the wrong amount i was earing, or should i ask them about this £100 we dont declare, when i told them i was on mat pay they never mentioned this:baby:

When I filled in my tax credits form the other week, it asked for my years earning minus any maternity pay! So not sure if you have to or not

maternity allowance is non taxable so not declared, SMP is taxable, however for CTC purposes you can deduct UPTO £100p/w forf 39weeks. it depends on what rate you receive SMP, if its over 100 p/w then deduct 100. if its less than that then you can only deduct that amount

hope that makes sense

call them and tell them the date you went on SMP, they will help you work out the deductions

yup as above

they are not very helpful about teliing u not to declare it !
