We just opened a standard savings account with Nationwide, the current financial climate is too unstable for my liking, i know things can only get better but whats to say this dosnt happen again in 10, 15 years time?
I took out a stakeholder account with the childrens mutual, I was worried a little about the climate but when speaking to an adviser she assured me that while the stocks are low, it would be a good thing to buy the shares as they are more likely to then go on to increase in value? I thought Id take a risk, as they dont lock you into, you can switch to any other account as you wish, We opened it around 6 or 7 months ago, we have contributed around £670 in total so far (including government £250 voucher) and my daughters balance a couple of days ago was £727, Im really pleased with this Assuming it carries on this way she will have a nice little ammount to use hopefully , but like youz say you never know, Im just going to keep my fingers and toesies crossed (and cheke the balance monthly!) x
