Chlomid it is...

hi i have pcos and been told to take clmid, does this help in getting preganant

Welcome Baby,
Clomid promotes ovulation and in doing so increases your chances of pregnancy. Most often it's prescribed to ladies who do not ovulate on their own but in my case I do ovulate but I'm just not getting pregnant. They've put me on clomid just to see if it helps and from what I've seen it should do. Instead of releasing one egg I have 6 mature follicles and therefore 6 potential eggs to fertilise. However Clomid can cause all sorts of side effects, I haven't had any problems but some ladies do. There are many success stories on here where ladies have had a great results on clomid. This is my first cycle so I'm playing the waiting game at the moment. I hope this helps xx

Hi ladies. I started my first round of clomid today. 100mg cd2-6. I have just been told to bd a lot and go for cd21 tests. Is it just the us where they scan for ov? Am in the uk.

My scan was on cd10 to look for follicles. I haven't been asked to go back or anything. In fact I was told I'll have an appointment in 4 months. I'm not sure what cd21 tests are for, maybe one of the other ladies will be ale to help. Best of luck sweetie xx

Quick update. Had cramps since ov cd14 (Saturday 9th). They seem to be getting worse each day, today I was in agony. Just spent hour in the bath, didn't help neither did pain killers. Will contact the hospital tomorrow to see if its anything to worry about. Is it just a really bad s/e?? Xx

Feel better Bellaz!! Maybe it's from having so many follicles?? I'm a little crampy today too. Just the slightest bit though... I couldn't tell you why tho.

Popchick if you're out there - we're thinking of you. Hope all is well.

Hi Pink,
Had to have the day off work today because the cramps are so bad. When I cough I feel like something is going to burst in my lady bits. I literally cried all my way home yesterday after spending the day clutching my stomach and just wanting the day to be over. I find if I sit still its not too bad but as a teacher I can't just sit still. I have called the hospital, the nurse told me to call back at 2pm to speak to my consultant. I do think its just a side effect but I've never felt anything like it so want a professional opinion. I'm secretly hoping its a really good sign, perhaps early implantation or something. Will find out later!
I hope your cramps have gone Pink and that your feeling well. Keep me informed! Xx

I'm still here. My month ended pretty badly so wanted to take a few days off from thinking about it to recover. I kept having positive hpts all the way up to 14 days past the trigger. I ended up in the ER for an unrelated issue and they did a blood test that came back negative. The nurse and doctor were pretty rude and unsympathetic about it. AF came on Sunday and was horribly painful...much more so than usual. It's just been such a rough time. I'm taking the month off (even though i swore i would do 3 clomid cycles in a row) from everything....no pills, no charting, no test.

I really hope your IUI works this month!!! :hugs:

:hugs: I'm sorry to hear that hun. That really sucks. I don't know why things have to be so brutal sometimes. Sounds like it might have been a chemical... do you think? I had that happen before where I had to take a blood test in emergency bc I had a really bad infection and the doc just comes in and goes - "well you're definitely NOT pregnant!" Like come on...

Anyway sounds like a good time for a break. I'm going to be forced to take one next month bc DH is travelling for 3 days exactly when I would ovulate. Like you see what I mean??? why can't things be easy and simple for like 1 second?????

Popchick- sorry to hear your struggles this month. Docs sure aren't the most sensitive of people are they. I think a rest from it all will do you good. It's also good to give your body some time off the meds.

Pink- looks like next month is a no no for you. But then you never know, they say it will happen when you least expect it and you can't always rely on ov date. You know when I got pregnant with my son, who's now 10, it was literally 2 hours before a full blown period. And I know this was when it happened because I didn't have sex between that time and the time I found out I was pregnant. I always say he was just meant to be... Wish it would happen so easily this time round.

I was discharged from hospital earlier today, ended up in a&e yesterday after my stomach pain got so bad I couldn't take it anymore. They kept me in for obs, found I have an urine infection. Got antibiotics. Also had a scan to see if ovaries were ok etc, doc said he can see that I've ovulated but wasn't answering any of my questions. I wanted to know if my eggs looked fertilised or whether he could see 6 from my 6 follicles. He just said everything looked normal and to make sure I half dose next month to 25mg. Not helpful at all. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for this month because we did bd right up til cd16 when pain got too much to do it. I still think some of my pain was due to the clomid but we will see next month.

I've chatted enough, I wish you all well. Fx for everyone x x

Ug...I have that pain every month that I'm on clomid. It's always in the few days after I ovulate. I've ended up in the ER before for it too. The pain will go away...it just takes a while.

The eggs (fertilized or not) won't show up on an ultrasound after you ovulate...you can just see the follicles that contain the eggs while they are still developing. Even if they implanted you won't be able to see what's going on until you're about 6 weeks along :)

I had read that many ladies have pain whilst on clomid but I was so worried that something had gone wrong. Every time I coughed or sneezed I felt like something was going to burst inside me. The docs were adamant that the majority of the pain was the infection but I'm almost certain it was the clomid. So Popchick, if it wouldn't have shown on US that means I might still get a bfp?! Going to keep praying.... Xx

I didn't realize that can be one of the side effects of clomid. Yesterday and the day before I was totally having cramps too. Nothing close to as bad as what you ladies are saying but felt like af was about to start.... Definitely noticable. I'm also sooooo gassy!!! (Sorry for the TMI) I think that's from the progesterone.

Hope you feel better Bellaz! UTI's are the WORST! I'm too familiar. Drink lots and lots of water.

Thanks Pink, I'm actually fine now. The cramps started wearing off Thursday so they lasted about 5 days. All back to normal now, except for a few odd twinges on both the left and right side. I'm hoping it's some sort of implantation twinge but not going to look into it too much. I've got 6 days to wait to find out! I'm 9dpo, naughty me poas yesterday and obviously it was bfn. I couldn't resist because I had one at home. I've invested in a bbt thermometer today as I've never charted my temps before, despite ttc for almost 3 years. That's mainly because I knew for sure I ov'd on cd14 but now I'm on clomid I'm worried I may miss it. I have also felt my boobs ache but it seems to wear off after a few mins. That's not uncommon for me the week before AF, they usually swell and get really sore so again can't look into that either. I'm praying to god, crossing my fingers and toes, and just wishing for a great first clomid cycle... Best of luck ladies... Baby dust to you all x x x

Just wondering, when do you do your temperature thingy? First thing in the morning? Xxx

Glad you're feeling better!! Those all sound like very positive signs. FX'd for you x1,000,000!!!

As for temping - yes first thing in the morning when you wake up is best. Let me know if you have any other questions about it - I've been at the bbt thing for way to long.

Can I share a weird observation? Normally as soon as I ov my bbs start to hurt and they stay that way till AF. This cycle when I'm all hopped up on Clomid and progesterone they don't hurt at all! I though they would kill when taking progesterone? WTH?

Yes positive signs but I know clomid is good at tricking ppl into thinking they are when their not lol. I'm trying not too obsess too much, but did test again last night and got another bfn (9dpo) I know it would be too early still but I seem to have no will power when I have tests at home. All out now so no more testing unless AF doesn't show!
I'm going to start temping next cycle, I've signed up with Fertility Friend so I can record accurately. I may need help interpreting the chart though Pink, I'm all new to this. Hoping its easier than monitoring CM!
You on about bb's, mine would usually be really sore at this point in my cycle so maybe it is the clomid having the adverse effect. 5 days to go.... That's one good thing about short cycles, it does roll round quickly. However I've broke up from work for a week so no doubt it will drag lol xx

Well Ladies, AF due today, no sign as of yet. Don't feel like she's on her way either so I reckon clomid has perhaps messed up my cycle. I have been testing for last few days, all bfn's. I do have one annoying problem though, thrush! Is this a s/e of clomid or perhaps the antibiotics I was on for uti? If its not one thing it's another, it's driving me mad. In two minds about clomid this cycle (if AF shows). Feel like its been more trouble than its worth. Doc said I should half my dose to 25mg, would that equal half the side effects lol. It's just a thought... Hope you are all well, keep positive, keep smiling xx

Oh thrush is the worst and I am sure it is because of the antibiotics for the uti.... anytime you are on antibiotics UP YOUR PROBIOTICS!! Even as simply as eating yogurt everyday and eliminate sugar completely... sugar and low probiotics are a breeding ground for thrush.... hope you feel better soon!!!

With the clomid I seem to only get moody and hot flashes.... I am currently on round 4 of 50mg.
