Cholestasis AND Pre eclampsia

ok so for the last few weeks my bp has been slowly rising, I had it done today and its upto 156/88 from 127/53. I have had protein in my urine for the last 2 weeks (no nitrite so its not infection) so im being watched for Pre-e.

And also now I have just had blood drawn to see whether I have Cholestasis. I get the results tomorrow or Saturday.

Has anybody had BOTH of these together and if you did what happened? I'm kind of worried about it xx

I'm sorry you may have both, that's a rough deal. Hopefully you have an ob that will give you the extra care and monitoring you need.

Thanks lola, i already have a consultant at the hospital whom i have extra appointments with. My next one is on the 20th December. So hopefully if my results come back as positive i will find out more about how things are going to be delt with. lol i was hoping for a problem free pregnancy... and bang.. i may just have two of the big complications trust me

Yes i had both but i was a bit further along. The cholestasis started first for me. I didnt know what it was so had it a while before i went to the dr about it, saw a junior locum who misdiagnosed so few more weeks slipped by. Then the PE started, mildly though but my consultant saw me and decided to take the baby out early at 37 weeks. He also diagnised the cholestasis and wrote letter of complaint to my GP.

Your BP is high and you should be monitored very closely for the itching i was given an anti itch cream ( sorry will have to dig out my notes and get back to you which one) and they also prescribed vitamin K if I remember correctly. As my PE started late they didnt have to give me meds for that and just toom the baby out early.

I can see you are 27 weeks so they will make a plan for you with appropriate medicatiosns. Try not to worry, easier said than done i know. But the fact you are being monitored is crucial. It is treatable and you and the baby will be fine, it is usually those who go untreated that experience complications.

thank you mpg1502! Thankfully my results came back negative all clear for cholestasis. But i am being checked again next week. My BP also came down a little last week to 148/76 and hopefully it will still be down this thursday at my 28 week appointments. xx

they worry more when lower part is high eg above 90 an higher one above 140 and borderlin e is 130+/80+ mine have been in 130s/80s since 20 somin weeks some way high ie highest ive had on top was 156 an bottom was 101 0r 110 cant mind had protein on an off ie one sample +protein nxt one nad etc last few weeks now +protein in urine i have 2 weekly checks an one weekly bloods and was but on meds jst over 2weeks ago. but my booking apoint bp was 140/90 as it was still high for prev preg in jan 2012. not been told its pre e but i have headaches too.dnt have clorassis or whtever its spelt lol.i see ob on 28th dec also havin scan too
bp nw sittin at 110-120/70-80 (but this is in mornin an within 4 hours of meds so will see tomoz as i hav afternoon monitoring) take meds one in morn an one nite

yeah my midwive said mine is not a worry as such yet.. but it is worrying that its working its way up already.. my booking in i was 128/56 and its slowly risen since then. Im on 75mg aspirin and have been since 16 weeks. I have had constant protein for the last 2 weeks every day. yesterday was the first clear day iv had from protein and iv not tested it yet today.

fingers crossed for us both lol i hate Pre-e xxx
