Choosing names before even pg...

i have known since i was 14 what i wanted to name my son and i got my way lol

My husband and I picked names shortly after becoming engaged. Well...picked out isn't quite the right term. He told me that he always pictured himself one day having a daughter named Katie. I said I've loved that name since I was about 12 and also wanted to name my daughter that.

He then said he'd like to pass on the name William, which is his. The name Will was on my baby name list at age 13.

Yes, I've always been interested in having babies. lol! So those were just "our names" since that day.

I love talking baby names -- researching names, meanings, etc! I think it's perfectly fine -- and sooo much fun! Plus it gives us something positive & exciting to focus on!

I have been writing name lists since i was about 12! Every now & then my mom finds one of my old lists & we laugh at the names i used to like!

Of course, my selections change weekly -- but as i told OH -- it's a work-in-progress to find that perfect name!

Do most people do this?, i find it keeps me positive and i love doing it. But sometimes people look at me strange when i say we already are choosing names.

Also, i worry posting on here for opinions on names when we are still ttc . Not that anyone on here has made me feel awkward, you have all been lovely .

Just curious.

WE have only just started TTC yipeee but have our names sussed lol and I had to tell hubbys siblings so they dont use them
we like Noah or Finlay for a boy and I like Olivia or Isabella for a girl, both sets of names go with our surname, and we have also chosen middle names lol which are my name for a girl (its a family tradition) and our dads names for the boys as we lost them both to cancer

We had a few while TTC (3 years gives you plen of time to think) but now it's time to settle on one we don't actually like most of those on the list!

I had names picked out when I was still at school!

We aren't even TTC our second yet and I have list of names I like! Although I don't talk about names other than on here (Excluding OH but he doesn't listen anyway ) I worry that people would think I'm mad!

Don't think twice about it! I have a little notebook and when I see/hear names I like I jot them down. Nothing wrong with putting extra thought into future LO's name!

DH and I are talking names and we're not formally ttc yet. We started talking about it when were were dating in fact hee hee. I don't think there is a time that is too early in the long run. I would rather consider names before the hormones kick in.

DH loves the name Aphrael (from the Elysium series) for a girl, I am not all that sold on it. So we are looking for others. So far we have: Jorryn, Abigail, Aryanna, Mairi (after my maternal grandmother and his mother's middle name) and Vanessa.
Doran William is the name we would like for a boy, after both of our paternal grandfathers.
For female twins (twins run in both our families) Tayly and Talaya, no middle names decided yet.
I KNOW there will be more soon

DH and I started to talk about names from the moment we decided to TTC... We both love the name Sophie for a girl but still haven't managed to agree on a boy's name

So it's good to start thinking about names before you get pregnant! It took us almost 2 yrs to get our BFP and yet here we are, still debating about the boy's name!!!

If only he will just listen to me...

definatly i love picking baby names, its what keeps me sane nd it drives my hubby bonkers

but doesnt matter how many names we go through we cant agree at all, weve slightly agreed on a middle name but thats about it

Recently DH and I have really been looking at names. It seems to be a way for us to ease into the process. He came up with the 'holding name' of Sprout for when we are pg. In my mind, deciding on a name early can help you feel less out of control when the hormones kick in. It is something that the father can be involved in, as much of the pregnancy is felt indirectly. We have had a lot of fun looking up names.

We have decided that a boy will be Doran William, and a girl will have Marie as her middle name, first names for a girl will be one of the following: Laura, Abigail or Aphrael.
