Hello All,

Sorry to interupt. I posted on here awhile ago. At my 20 week scan they found a choroid plexus cyst on the brain of the baby. they told me not to worry and not to google, both of which i did. i have done mad amount of research and it's scaring the hell out of me. We go in next wednesday (jan. 6) for another ultra sound to see if the cyst has disappeared.

My question to you all is, have any of you known anyone with this? I have heard two sides, that you can be completely fine and live normally with this cyst (our baby has no other markers which is a good sign) but i've also heard to opposite.

Just hoping to hear some other stories as the ultra sound nears i am getting more upset.

Thanks all and hope you have a wonderful holiday and new year!

i do not know anything about this but i did not want to read and run. i hope others will be more help but you will be in my thoughts and i pray the results are good next week for week. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've only heared positive outcomes to be honest, the cyst usually completely disappears on it's own:thumbup:. There have been quite a few people on here with the same diagnosis:hugs:

I hope the same happens for you and your LO:kiss:

i've never heard a bad outcome... our baby's disappeared but they weren't worried about it when it was there xx good luck xx

Have to agree with this, I have only heard of positive outcomes. :hugs:

My baby girl had bilateral cysts at my 20 week scan. It was her only marker so my doc said not to worry. He also said that it's very common, found on about 1 in 10 scans and they are starting to believe it is a normal part of fetal development. When I had another ultrasound at 32 weeks the cysts had disappeared. There is a VERY slim chance that it will be a problem so try not too worry. I know it is easier said that done :)

Thank you very much. I have my scan on Wed. so I will let you know if the cyst remains.

My daughter had these, she was born on November 14th, very healthy, attentive, physically strong and dare I say smart/bright for her age people have commented and I see it too :cloud9:. So in my eyes and medical professionals, isolated means nothing, I found it confusing as to how their considered a marker when all i kept hearing was could mean this, but could be healthy.. blah, how'd that make sense. They have no detrimental effect and normal people are even still found with them on autopsy. and it's not yet really an established marker... though successful in scaring the wits out of mothers to be. I worried less and less towards the end of my pregnancy. If I wasn't pushed into such frequent ultrasounds I would have missed it completely as i'm sure it could be more frequent as I read this can be missed, this one was 3d my ob told me it was standard to check development (only 1 and 1/2 weeks ahead of prio u/s or something).

Hi, my little boy had this at 20 week scan - he is now 8 weeks old and as above - NO issues, a smiley - happy - sleepy little darling. I think the cysts are 'normal' in terms of how some baby's brains develop. Try not to worry - if there was a problem they would be running rings around you. xxxx

My little boy had bilateral cysts as well and he is absolutely fine. The baby I am currently carrying also has cysts. Fortunately neither of them had any other markers. My son is fit and healthy with no problems at all. They are very common and in some hospitals they now don't even tell you about them unless you are over 34. Hope this gives you some peace of mind x

I would only ever be worried if something changed later on towards the end of the pregnancy or after the baby is born...a lot of things pop up in fetal development that look unusual or are out of the ordinary especially in the brain where during fetal development theres a lot of excess neurons and stuff coming out, but at the end of the pregnancy a lot of that kind of stuff is pruned back in a way ....similar to pruning a bush from excess growth, i wouldnt be worried at this stage at all

my little girl had choroid plexus cysts on her brain and another marker on her heart.

shes nearly 6 months now and has no problems whatsoever, she had a brain scan before she left hospital and the cysts had gone...:hugs:

thank you so much. we had our scan last wednesday. the cyst disappeared so we are in the clear in terms of the choroid plexus!
