For all you ladies getting married in a church how long in advance did you book your date?

We aren't actually engaged yet but we have decided we would like to get married on 9th Feb 2013. This is because 9th Feb is our anniversary and 2013 is the next time it falls on a Saturday which is the day we would ideally like our wedding. So when do you think I should speak to the vicar about booking the church?

Don't want to look like a crazy woman doing it years in advance if other people only do it like months in advance

:flower:

Hi me and OH are gettin married in a church and we booked ours 3 months ago for june 2011 as they were getting full already... Book everything now, well in advanced to avoid dissapointment. Your be suprised how much things get booked up very quickly

I booked mine well over a year in advance and even then they had bookings for 2012, never too early and saves a LOT of stressing about whether it will be free! xx

i still have 5 years till our wedding but still looking around lol.. not sure when able to book either.

I booked ours 10 months in advance.

You'll need to check you can get married in church too. When my cousin was booking her wedding she was turned away from every church because she had a child before marriage.

^^ that's a bit ridiculous...was she Catholic? I know I am able to get married in church because the vicar mentioned it when we were booking Lucas' christening so that's ok :)

No shes not catholic.

She was abit disapointed at the time but she got married in a chapel instead and had a great day.

glad you're able to get married in church just thought i'd mention it to prepare you if not :)

yeah i have heard this alot too. i am getting my son baptised next year but don't think i can get married in a church either... i am catholic though.

I originally booked a church wedding, and booked 2 years in advance. In the wedding business it seems best to book early because how disappointing would it be to leave it until one year before and your date has been taken? good luck x

my dad's a vicar and they take bookings a year and a half before the date.. they have taken a few 2 years before the date, but never put it as a definite booking till 18 months before the date! but you can always ask at the church and see what their policy is!

Boony, sorry to hear about what happened to your cousin! that's ridiculous! my dad's married plenty of couples that have children! and he's doing ours next year! guess you just have to see what each church offer! xx

I booked mine 15 months in advance and people were booking for 2011. I can't belive the Vicar wouldn't marry someone who already had a child!! My Vicar never even made a muff about James and Noah being here! And the fact that My OH is not James' dad. what a shame x

Thanks for all the replies ladies...think were going to leave it until the beginning of next year and then speak to the vicar, see what he says :) That is like 2 years in advance and we can maybe provisionally book the date and then confirm it later :D
