I suffer bad anxiety to do with my health, I have been given 10mg Citalopram. I've been on it for 2 weeks and on the whole it's been fine, but a day last week and today I'm having a really bad anxiety and I don't know why. I can feel my heart racing and all panicky :( last week I ended up at a&e cuz I got myself so worked up.

Is this normal to be ok for day then have days where you feel like your straight back at the beginning?

I was citalopram a few years ago for a couple of years. I would say it's not normal to get that worked up. Was there an event that caused it? If not I'd be speaking to your doctor about it. For me I still had the occasional sad/anxious day, but it wasn't as bad as before I was medicated. It is normal to have good and bad days, but you're on the medication to prevent things from getting really bad so if it's not preventing that maybe you need a bit of a higher dose?

yes. i struggle with the same thing my new gp recomends a beta blocker to syip the heart racing symptoms instead of anti depressents. he also gives cbt or counselling which ever you would like. it might be worth chatting with your gp about different ways to manage your anixety.

I got that after a few months, they upped my dosage and it calmed down again xx

It takes typically a good 6 wks for your body to adjust to the medicine. In the meantime you could find your symptoms for which you sought help can worsen and you can experience different severe ones (you could find you feel particularly low and have random suicidal thoughts). It is important you know of this and monitor how you're feeling :hugs:

Same with me 10mg did nothing for me, I had my dosage upped to 40mg and I'm really surprised how good thats working for me 💜

I have been on Citalopram for about 5 months now. I took them 1 - 20 mg per day. I didn't really get many symptoms except from fatigue and I couldn't eat for a few days. I had no appetite whatsoever. They`re the best antidepressant I`ve been on and had the least side effects for me. They kept me stable an able to work, to look after kids and my husband. Without them I wouldn't be able to do any of these things. I can strongly recommend them...they really helped me although it takes a couple of weeks for them to kick in. I am more than happy with the service from generic-meds-store.co...this is the only source I may rely on.

I'd say maybe see how you go and then consider a higher dose, I found they worked really well for my depression but my anxiety was harder to tackle, and like another poster has said beta blockers were the only thing to really get rid of the feeling my heart was going to explode from my chest. Hope you feel better soon x

It sounds as if the dose is too low for you. I was on 10mg and it was great for me I didn't have days like how you have described. Maybe see if you can get a higher dose?
