Clomid 2013 Buddies

AF showed her face today after my 30 day cycle :( at least I know I am ovulating now though so I am coping a lot better with it this cycle... fingers crossed 3rd time lucky. We have decided to have a break after that for 2 months if we don't fall pregnant this cycle.

I just picked up my Rx for Clomid tonight ... I have to take it next cycle; I will more than likely end up getting my progesterone shots here next week to force my cycle to start - and then I have to take 25mg of Clomid days 3, 4, & 5. Then we will be checking out what my cycle does with the assistance of my natural family planning charting (Creighton Model)

I am hoping this works!!!!!

After 6 months of rounds of clomid, ovarian drilling and no ovulation, I finally got my results for my past 2 cycles of 300mg clomid. I OVULATED BOTH TIMES!!! :happydance:

Dr told me my levels went from a 2nmol/L (anything under 20 means no ovulation) up to 70nmol/L... he even said that high of a level increases my chances of falling pregnant with twins if we do fall pregnant on the clomid. Going to do a few more rounds if not pregnant this time.

I am CD30 today and my last cycle was 33 days, and I ovulated the same day this cycle (CD18) so just playing a waiting game now. Have had cramping for 2 days now and today I had stretchy CM egg white colour with white streaks through it... so confused.

Even though we are not guaranteed to fall pregnant, it feels AMAZING to know I ovulated and we are at least a step closer in our TTC journey! FX

wow,300mgs???? never heard anyone went that high before????
sorry AF showed, hope next dose works :happydance:

waiting on the 4th to test,i'm so scared and nervous

I know a few ladies that have been on that dosage... it is really high though and not very common. 200mg did nothing for me, so he decided just to bump it up to 300mg. Not complaining because it is working :happydance: A friend of mine had triplets taking 300mg. Took my first day of this rounds clomid today. Lets hope that this AF was the last one I will have see in a long time FX.

Good luck ladies!!!
I am very new to this, TTC #1 for 1 year and 4 months. I have PCOS, hypothyroidism and irregular periods. I have finally been perscribed Clomid and am patiently waiting for AF to show up before I start, doing days 2-6 on 50mgs. I am also now on Metformin 500mgs daily. The thing is Ihave no idea on what to chart, when I *should* be O'ing and when to Bed. Can someone help? Gah! This baby making business was supposed to be easy, wasn't it?

Hey! Welcome to the chat :)

I have PCOS too. Did your doctor give you provera/progesterone to bring on your AF? With irregular cycles they usually do.

I chart my basal body temp every morning (same time and after at least 3 hours of unbroken sleep) throughout the entire of my cycle. (Below is the link to mine on fertility friend where I record it if you wanted to have a look.) Temps are usually lower first part of cycle, will dip and then rise higher. That rise often means you have ovulated. Temps remain higher after ovulation and will drop when AF starts again.

Also start taking note of your CM. Egg white CM is what you want to find - it is most fertile.

With clomid, my OBGYN said that if you ovulate it will be 6-12 days after your last tablet. He suggested just BDing every 2 days from the time AF stops. That way if and when you ovulate, you know that you have given the best chance for the sperm to find the egg when it is released. I amrk down the dates we BD on my chart too.

I get bloods taken on CD23 to check for ovulation and consult my OBGYN after each round to discuss our progress.

I also see you are from Australia too :)

Hi ladies,
Have anyone tried going on BC for one month to "jump start" the system? I had a positive response with clomid during the first cycle, the didn't ovulate each month after... I went on BC fir a month, then restart Clomid & Tamoxifen x10 days, plus accupuncture... And it worked! I didn't get BFP, but I Ov'd which is great! Hoping to Ov again this month.... It's all about changing the feedback loop of the body, hopefully this will be it.

Good luck gals!

Jillie89: do you see a EF (endocrinologist fertility) doctor? Mine told me that by taking the tamoxifen & clomid, it has the effect of a really high clomid dose minus the nasty side effects. I'd try going on BC for a month if your going to break... It SUCKS, especially if you have pcos... But it works!

No - just seeing me OBGYN for now. Will see him after this round of clomid and if we aren't pregnant, I will be asking what we should do for our 2 months off.

As for clomid side effects, I only get a little dizzy when I am sitting or lying down. It is really strange, but it feels like I am bouncing up and down vertically. And I definitely only get it when taking the pills. Within 4 hours of taking mine this morning the dizziness had started.

I will have to get a script for BC again if I go back on it... I gave the rest of mine to my sister because she is on the same pill as I was on. I had a hissy fit and said - 'I never want to take these again, a year off them and I am still not pregnant!'... so I just gave them away.

Good luck ladies!!!

Hi Jillie89!
Thanks for your advice! No, the doc didn't perscribe me provera. Fingers crossed i won't need it. I will start charting my basal body temp too, that seems to be a great way to record if I ovulate now with the Clomid.
Seeing this will be my first round I will be getting a blood test on day 21 ( don't know what the difference between doing the test on day 21 or 23 is) and I'll be holding my breath to see if I finally O'd. I've been tested once before (while not on anything) and that cycle I hadn't O'd and it was soooo dissapointing to feel that your body is letting you down.
The OBGYN I see is very optimistic after I saw him last week after my laparoscopy but Im TRYING not to get ahead of myself! :flower:

MollyNorwood - Yeah I don't think there is much difference between the day 21 and 23 bloods. My OBGYN just does it CD23 in case people are late ovulators. I ovulate later in my cycle - I think because I take the clomid CD5-9.

I had 3 rounds of clomid that never made me ovulate. It was so heartbreaking to hear the news month after month that it was not happening. I was stoked when I found out that I ovulated 2 months in a row on the last rounds. FX 3rd time lucky?

Because I have been ovulating, my body has actually had normalish cycles and followed a normal BBT pattern. I also haven't needed provera to start my cylces unlike all cycles when I didn't ovulate - took provera every time so I could take the clomid each time.

Hi all, I wanted to chime in on this thread. I know I'll be so impatient throughout this cycle and will need buddies.. It is my first round of Clomid, 100 mg, IUI will be around Feb. 13 I think. I go in for an u/s on Feb. 11 and then they'll tell me whether to do the trigger shot. My dr. has also prescribed progesterone suppositories to follow the IUI. I'm kind of unclear so far on why she assumes that I need this... not looking forward to it.

That's great that you have been having relativly normal cycles of late! An that you have ovulated two months in a row! :happydance:
Did you increase the mg's of Clomid to achieve this?
I am still waiting for AF, the little box of Clomid is sitting there taunting me! I just want to start this already! :dohh:
Best of luck Jillie89, baby dust to you!!

Congrats Jillie and good luck to everyone else!

I'm in a similar situation, never have regular cycles and the Dr finally prescribed Progesterone, which I'm on day 3 of and will start with Clomid on days 3-7. This will be my first round of Clomid to see if my lack of ovulation is corrected by the Progesterone. Waiting for AF and a little nervous to try to Clomid.

Hey :) Hopefully not long now so you can start on the clomid.

Yes, I was originally put on 50mg, then 100mg, then 150mg, then 200mg for 4 consecutive cycles. After that OBGYN said 'I think you are clomid resistant, we should do ovarian drilling.' So we did that in october. I then had a month off to see if I ovulated by myself, I didn't. He then put me back on clomid but upped it and changed the CD I took it - instead of the 2-6, I take in on 5-9 now. He said sometimes after ovarian drilling, some patients will start responding to clomid.

I was in tears this morning. Trying to take all my tablets and they weren't going down right, felt sick and was just over it all. Hubby got his second SA back too yesterday... his motility went from 6% up to 31% this time... should be 32%. His actual sperm count went from 15 down to 10! Meant to be at least 39... Don't know what to think of it now.

Positive thoughts, sweetie! That's the only way I get through my day sometimes. It will all be worth it someday. :)

I agree Ginger, and I know you are probably tired of hearing people say it Jillie but if we dont try and stay positive in times like ths we can easily sink into depression.
Do you take your tablets with water Jillie? I find milk a better option (if you drik it or soy etc) helps get them down better.
Just a thought :)
Do we do IUI in Australia? I have no idea as we havn't looked at the other options yet. If we do, I wonder if this will be better to help you with your DH's lower sperm count?

I take my tablets with milk - they are so chalky and hard to get down that the milk makes it a bit easier.

I think they do IUI here. It is not as common as IVF though I don't think. Our OBGYN know about DH SA and he said if after 6 rounds (in total) of successful cycles on clomid where I ovulate, then we may have to move on to IVF. So we are up to month 3 this time... that is why we are thinking 2 months break in between the first 3 rounds and trying the other 3 rounds. I go back and see my OBGYN on Jan 26th to talk it all over again.
