I am starting Clomid for the first time today and take it through Friday. I remember reading something about waiting a few days after the last pill before using OPKs because you will get a false positive.

Anyone know how many days you should wait?

Thanks! :hugs:

When taking clomid, I used opks starting 5 days after the last pill. You typically O between 5-10 days after your last pill, so if you wanted to be super vigilant you could start 4 days after the last pill. I Od 9 & 10 days after my last pill on my clomid cycles. Hope that helps! Good luck and baby bust!

Thank you so much! And congratulations to you! :hugs:

How many cycles on Clomid did it take before your :bfp:?

Thanks.. :) it was two cycles for me. I heard anecdotally that it is most common to get pregnant on your 2nd or 3rd cycle, and it was true for me. I hope for a swift bfp for you!

Did you experience any side effects of the Clomid?

Hi Amy,

I'm also due to start my first round of clomid very soon, I'm just waiting for AF to arrive after taking provera! I've never been so excited for AF to arrive.

Please let me know if you experience any side effects?

Hi Eva,

We are like in the same boat right now! We should be buddies! :)

I finished Provera last Monday, started AF last Thursday, ended it yesterday and started Clomid.

My doctor advised me to take it at night, in an effort to sleep through the side effects. I woke up this morning with a mild headache and slight heartburn, but otherwise, feeling OK so far.

Best of luck to you! I hope AF arrives soon. Let's keep in touch. Sending you lots of BD! :dust:

Hi Amy,

Ah yes, we really are! I finished provera last Tuesday so AF taking a little while longer for me. I took provera a couple of months ago too so I could have some tests done and AF took 10 days to show.

Ah good idea, I shall do the same when I start then! So what is your situation then, do you have irregular cycles?

Sending you heaps of baby dust!

Yes, I have super irregular cycles, ranging from 20-67 days, and I only ovulated twice in the past year.

My doctor ran a ton of tests, but everything came back normal or negative. My glucose was good, my doctor couldn't feel any cysts, so no reason to believe that I have PCOS. She wants to be as least invasive as possible, so she doesn't want to do an ultrasound until after I try Clomid for at least a cycle.

So, if it doesn't help me ovulate this cycle, she'll likely do an ultrasound to see if something else is going on.

If I do ovulate, but don't get a :bfp:, we'll probably have DH do a SA.

How about you? What is your situation?

Praying AF arrives for you soon!

We are very similar! I have very irregular cycles too - last year AF only showed twice and this year just the once (without provera).

I've had to have lots of tests before been prescribed clomid (bloods, ultrasounds, internals & a HSG). In addition, OH has also had SA. It's clear I'm not ovulating but they think my tubes look ok and no sign of cysts, hence why they have prescribed it to me. OH does unfortunately have a low sperm count (1%) when the min they like you to have is 4% but we're not letting that worry us as we have had friends conceive naturally after starting the fertility treatment process and he only had 0.33%

I've been given 3 cycles worth of clomid and if we haven't conceived within that time, they are going to do a procedure where theyll look inside and see what's going on - I'm really hoping that it doesn't come to this! X

OMG! I'm in the exact same situation. That's what they will do with me, too, after three cycles of Clomid! I think it's an HSG test.

I pray for both of us that we get our BFPs so that none of that needs to happen! :hugs:

I pray that

We'll if you do need a HSG it's not that bad! But yes fingers crossed that we get our bfp in the next 3 months!

Keep me updated :-) x

As far as side effects - I only had 2 my first cycle. One was that I got the rare side effect of having tracers in my vision under low light conditions or if I was really tired. They looked like trails of light coming from everything. Started the 4th day of taking the pills, but went away after I stopped. You probably won't have that... I think only 2% of people get it. The second side effect I had was ovulation was really painful, like cramps so bad I wasn't comfortable in any position, lasted a couple of days. No emotional side effects at all.

Second round I had the same, and then once I was about 8 dpo I started to get really heated. Things that normally wouldn't bother me made me snap. I yelled a lot for a few days. I think it happened about the same time as implantation, so it was probably the hormones and not the clomid.

Overall, it wasn't that bad. How are you doing? :)

Thank you for sharing! So far, so good. I have had mild headaches and heartburn, but REALLY not bad at all. To the point that now I'm like, oh no, this isn't going to work! But, your :bfp: gives me so much hope! :)

I was also SUPER emotional last night (crying at everything), but that's not totally out of the norm for me, haha.

Were you on 50mg both cycles?

Don't worry about symptoms or no symptoms - even and especially in the tww (which is when you'll get most of them anyway)! My first cycle I had impossibly sore breasts, felt like I had gotten run over by a truck, was starving etc... everything. Then bfn. Second cycle I had almost no symptoms besides the moodiness, breasts were totally normal, though I was a bit off food with a jumpy feeling stomach, not really nausea. I was completely certain I was out, and depressed as anything about it. I refused to test until 14 dpo rather than face the disappointment...Then the bfp!

50 mg both cycles for me. Is your doc doing the day 21 test to confirm O?

Oh, and funny, Amy, DH and I got married on the same day, same year as you :) hehe. Happy anniversay!

You have no idea how helpful this is, thank you so much for sharing your experience!

My doctor is going to the day 21 test if I notice a clear shift in my temperature and that O occurred. Otherwise, I think the plan is to try 100mg next month, assuming I don't O later than CD21. Basically, she's trying to avoid an unnecessary test if I know for certain that I didn't ovulate. Think I should insist on doing it regardless?

And that is too funny! Happy anniversary to you, too! What a small world. We are definitely meant to be buddies. :hugs:

I think what your doctor says makes sense considering you are an established temp-er. I was rubbish at that and gave up immediately, hehe. There's no need to waste money on having the day 21 test if you know for a fact that you did not ovulate.

If you do O, though, you'll definately want to have the test so they can confirm it was a "strong" ovulation. That will help them determine if you need to increase your dose despite Oing.

:hugs:

Hello! I'm new to the site but thought ide join. This was my first month taking clomid 50mg 3-7. I started using opks about 4 days after my last pill and have been testing since. I tested everyday and was getting discouraged not getting a positive opk. But finally got mine today at 4am! I am on cd19. 12 days after my last clomid pill. My advice to everyone is just hang in there, isten to your body and keep testing! Mine came out of nowhere! As far as side effects go I've onlt had hot flashes and cramping. But I definitely felt the ovulation!
