hi ladies i apologise for posting in here again as i arent actually a long term ttcer (thought i was with my 1st dd) so please tell me to bog off if you think me posting here in insensitive but you ladies know more on the subject of clomid and i am so fed up right now that i need to ask someone!

anyways has anyone been prescribed clomid by their g.p with without seeing a fs first?

after another long cycle af has arrived and doing my research i have read that clomid can be prescribed to help your cycles. i also seem to not ovulate properly either its the 2nd cycle in a row when my bodies tried to ovulate early and then it hasnt and i have then gone onto ov really late instead. i have had issues with ov and long cycles in the past too.

i am pretty sure theres a problem after having a scan this month that showed i would ov around 5 days later and i didnt ov til 2 weeks later.

i am awaiting on hormone results but i wont get them til the end of the month. am tempted to ring up and ask for them over the phone as this is killing me not knowing whats going on with my body and if there is a problem i want to know now at the begining of my cycle rather then later.

my consultant didnt seem too helpful when i saw her to have my hormones checked and i told her about my cycles and how i kept getting 2 lots of + opk at different points of my cycle. she just told me that opks arent reliable at detecting ov. wish she could be more helpful.

on the other hand i have a lovely lovely doctor who since losing jessicas has helped me so much and i want to talk about this with her but a) feel guilty that i am yet again asking her to help me and b) i am scared she might just be the same as my consultant and not seem worried about my long irregular cycles.

any advise you could give me would be really appreciated.

oh and also how much would it cost to go privately and are they more helpful with regards to trying to help you and are on your side as opposed to the nhs who are reluctant to help at all?

atm it feels like me against the world

Hi,

I WISH i had been prescribed Clomid without testing!!

I've had allsorts of tests and pints of blood taken and still haven't got to Clomid, which is what i asked for at my first GP appointment.

NHS seem to think this is a walk in the park and seem to turn their noses up at anthing that isn't medical. I was told charting wasn't reliable! How many thousands or millions of ladies have succesfully used these charts for conception and family planning.

Of course not everything works for everyone.

I looked into going privately and I think to get to where I am now it would have cost about £500. In hind sight I wish I had taken that route but by the time I realised that we were so far down the line and may as well continued. Besides I pay for the NHS and should be entitled to my treatment from them

Anyway, apologies for my rant!!

I'm sure if you went back to GP they would be fine. People are very unaware how diffcult this is and this whole concept of how it feels is alien to them.

Also have a look at local fertilty specialists, I found a local one online and they quoted approx costs and processes. I think they'd be much nicer and more helpful too

Good luck
xxxxx

Hi, I have been given clomid without testing or monitoring.. we did get pregnant naturally but lost our angel at 15weeks in January, I have pcos and under active thyroid, my gp prescribed me it after I told him I was not ovulating ( I was temping) he did a simple blood test to confirm I was right and then prescribed me 6 months worth...

Good luck, hope you get sorted :)

My GP wouldnt give me anything after ttc for 12months and long cycles.. He said i would need to be referred as he couldnt prove i had pcos unless the gyno ran some tests..

Anyway after being referred to the gyno and loads of blood tests, a hsg and unltrasound scan pcos was confirmed and tubes cleared..

I was give 3months of clomid last week to start next cycle but this has taken 16months in total.. Think my GP first referred me back in May time and since May been having testing etc as its waiting lists for the HSG scan that took 4 months to actually get done she wouldnt give me anything until hsg confirmed no blocked tubes..

I know everyone works different some ladies get clomid from there doctors, some get it from there gyno without havin a hsg done, only thing to do is speak with your doctor who may refer you first

xx

thanks ladies rang my consultant for my results and her secretary said she would ask if she could give me them over the phone or via letter but not heard back from her yet :(

once i get those results i can speak to my doctor. i have an app with the pre-pregnancy unit next week so hopefully they can help me. x
