Clomid Question

Please forgive me for joining this forum, however I am here on behalf of a very dear friend.

She has been trying to conceive for over 2 years and has recently been seeking help from our local hospital in the Northwest. Due to a series of mishaps at the hospital I just wanted to find out if this is standard. I would be really grateful of any advice/help/clarity that can be given.

These questions are not being asked for pointing blame, however the information given to my friend has been very unclear and a bit of clarity will help reduce her stress that could be affecting her getting pregnant and she can concentrate on her treatment, rather than what is not being told.

My friend has had a cycosy (sp) and blood tests all of which appeared normal and a healthy egg has been seen and has had positive opk tests. She was then supplied 3 months of Clomid 25mg. No scan or injection. No BFP.

Had to wait a month to see a consultant for 2nd prescription she was then given another prescription for 25mg for 3 months (1st month this month) and has just had a scan today on day 12 to check her folliclles and it was only 10mm and not 20mm. She has to go back on friday to see if they are any thicker.

My question are:
Is it normal not to have a scan/inj with 1st round of clomid?
Should the 2nd round dosage have been higher than 25mg?
Why would the follicles not be thicker?
What could/does this mean?

I would be grateful of any replies and I am trying to get her on here for support as it really helped me when I was trying to get pregnant and through my pregnancy.

hey im from the northwest (bolton) im on clomid due to none ovulation im on 50mg days2-6, iv had two months of clomid
your right it itsnt normal that she didnt have a scan she should of had it on her first month of clomid then they would have seen what she have found out today and probley put the does up depending what they see friday if the follicals are still not big enough.
also get her to ask them to do a day 21 blood test that will tell if she actually ovulated because im not 100% but i think thats what the injection is for to help you relese the egg coz im currently wondering if i need that.
iv had few problems with my doctor at one point she sent me a letter for an appointment for me to get into her room my doc not there and some other doctor askin me whats the problem i thort it was a joke then i sed you sent me a letter iv had tests you called me bk in for the results and that was the day i got given clomid so my trust in them isnt all that good lol. i hope this is helpful for her. all the best for her bfp. x

hi i did have follicular scanning on my 1st cycle of clomid i was put straight on 50mg even tho i was ovualting ok by the day 21 bloods i had done earlier on in the year, on day 11ish they found 2 eggs bout 16-18mm big so by the time i ovulated a few days later they would of been correct size which they say is about 20 mm as they grow each day....have heard of some women that get 20+ size eggs tho! i pushed for a bloodtest on cycle 3 of clomid as wanted to know 4 sure i was ovulating well still on same dose of clomid as my fs wouldnt give me more scanning of ovary or up dose.

i cant see y the fs isnt upping up dose to 50mg, thats something i would def be asking for. most fs will only prescribe 6 mths of clomid because of the risks about being on it too long andalso apparently after 6 mths on it theres less likely hood of it getting u a bfp. i would say a 50 mg dose would get her eggs a better size, but remember to always follow the fs advise. i got my bfp on 4th cycle and am now expecting twins, so i think clomid is fab!! xx
