Hi, for anyone who has tried clomid, can you please tell me did your doctor just agree to prescribe it (obviously after some time of trying naturally) or were you asked to have your tubes flushed out first and have your ovaries looked at?

I am going to a fertility specialist and this is their approx protocol:

1. blood tests at various times of cycle, and blood test / semen analysis for hubby
2. vaginal ultrasound, if anything is suspected then they do a sono that looks at uterus and puts water into tubes. (if anything is shown then theres surgery.)
3. trying for a couple more months naturally, then next step is clomid

the reason for these steps is to gradually rule everything out....why prescribe clomid if you have a big polyp on your uterus in the way of everything (thats what I had).

Im sure other places do it differently, Ive read of people having IVF and they cancel it as they find a polyp when inserting the embryo. I just wonder how come they didnt find that before.

also when it comes to clomid I think theres different prescriptions...some Ive read on here are just taking it for X amount of days in their cycle. Others I have read are monitored and have to go to the doctor and they watch the follicles and know when ovulation is happening. I dont know the difference, why some people are monitored and some are not.

are you going to a fertility specialist? how come you are considering clomid, have their ruled out other problems? good luck!
