I'm on round 8 of 100mg clomid. After 6 failed rounds, my FS put me on another three 'just in case' whilst I wait until next August. I will have then been TTC for three years and will qualify for NHS IVF.
In his opinion, if it hasn't worked so far, it probably won't. Anyone out there heard of it working after more than 6 rounds??
I'm just hoping we've just been really bad at catching the egg!

What do you mean by failed cycles? Do you know if you are successfully getting an egg? I know with me, I've had ovulation test say I was Ovulating but I didn't actually release an egg. Took my doc closely monitoring me with ultrasounds to figure out what was going on

is your lining still fine? clomid destroyed my lining in two cycles I was off it and on to injectables.

Hi ive just finished 6 cycles of Clomid with no bfp, got next appointment with fs on 14 th Oct, just want to move onto something else but dont know what that will be!
If you have to wait til Aug it could be worth giving it another go though x

By failed cycles I mean no bfp. I was put on 50mg of clomid to start but ultrasound showed no ovulation. The following month I was on 100mg and it showed four follicles. FS seems happy that 100mg is working, so gave me a big box of clomid at 100mg to take. Apart from repeat prescriptions of clomid, nothing else has been tested or checked. When I've asked I've been told that there's nothing else they can do for me since the scan said that clomid is working and I am ovulating. My infertility is 'unexplained' so it's not like there are other treatments out there I guess.
cupcake- is there any way I can check my lining? AFs seem normal, and heavy, so I guess there's plenty of lining in there!
Got a big :-) on OPK the other day. The cheery little face made my day! I used the other type of Clearblue OPK last month and the two lines are a bit less uplifting to look at.
star25- good luck with your next appointment. I know what you mean about wanting to try something else.

What about femara? Adding IUIs? Injecties? I feel like you have plenty of options to try outside of Clomid before IVF.

I will look up the things you have suggested in your post MissyLissy, thanks. I have read lots on here about them but to me they are just names. Every conversation I've had with the FS (right from when hormone levels and u/s showed I wasn't ovulating) was that we'd try clomid then IVF. I'm not sure if that's because of my specific case or NHS policy. All the leaflets I've picked up from the clinic that talk about infertility and treatment say that if clomid is unsuccessful for people with unexplained infertility then IVF is the next step.
I'd love to hear from anyone currently undergoing treatment in the UK (especially Eastern region) if this is the policy. Having read about all the treatments on here, I guess I just thought that my FS knew best. I felt a bit uncomfortable asking for other treatments or tests.

I'm on my 6th round of clomid, no luck as of yet :( I've been for numerous blood tests and they have all indicated that I am ovulating. I have an appointment with my gyno next week. From my last appointment she suggested that they may decide to increase my dose of clomid from 50-100 but the next step after that is ivf, I'm not sure i want to go with that straight away though !! 2.5 years ttc long term

Good luck to you all :)

Countrygirl I'm in the east of England and the policy is clomid then hsg or lap and dye and then onto ivf. Nhs funding is not provided for any other treatment in this area. Hope that helps.

Hi I'm in the south, I had scan and blood tests first and dh had SAs
As I had long heavy painful cycles and scan ruled out pcso my fs suspected endo so went straight to lap and dye which showed all was fine I just dont ovulate often enough, my gp gave me 3 cycles of 50mg before I saw fs which was pointless really, after lap fs gave me 6 cycles of 100mg which I had normal cycles but no bfp
Ive got a feeling that nhs doesnt offer iui that much as I dont think they see it benefits much more than sex unless dh has a sperm issue I suppose, think thats why ivf is offered
Where I am 1 cycle is funded, its recommended by NICE that 3 cycles is funded between the ages of 23 and 39 which is been raised to 42 I think, however it's down to your local pct what is funded and where I am it's 1 cycle before your 35th birthday,I'm grateful for 1 cycle if this is what fs says next but think it should be even through the country
I could be wrong with some of that but I emailed my pct for info where I live

I had another appointment and fs said would have to do iui or ivf, iui isn't funded and about £1000 a go, 1 ivf cycle is funded where I live so we're going to start that in the new year, in the meantime he gave me 3 more Clomid cycles so that will be 12 altogether
