Well, ladies, here we are...winter! :xmas8: This thread is for us to talk all things winter! So, that includes holidays from all over! And don't forget baby making! https://yoursmiles.org/tsmile/winter/t118031.gif

Ok ladies, I think we left off on that damn Elf on the shelf and luminaries

Yay!! I hope this thread brings us babies and many more BFPs!!

I'm making one of my favorite winter comfort meals in honor of the time change (any excuse to make it)— beef stroganoff! I had to get a little creative since I'm on an elimination diet where I can't have gluten, corn, or dairy until December, but I tasted it from the crockpot, and it tastes delicious!

You're going to have to share your recipe with us over in the Crackpot, Lionchild!

If it's a success, will do! I've never made it this way (and in the crockpot) before.

That sounds heavenly! I've been thinking about mulled wine ever since Nikki mentioned it in her journal. I bet that could easily be made in the crock pot too.

Oo please share. have Celiac so all my food has to be gluten free and my body's happier w/o dairy. I have struggled with a good stroganoff recipe. Here is one of my favorites.

Festivus baked apples:
Core but do not slice your favorite apple type
Cut the bottom off the apple so it lies flush with a glass baking dish
Pack the bottom 1/3 of the apple with brown sugar
Sprinkle in cinnamon, cloves and allspice (can also add nutmeg)
Add 1tbs butter or butter substitute
Pack another 1/3 with brown sugar, spices and butter
The flat apple bottom keeps the goodness from melting out
Bake at 350 degrees F (~175C) for 20 min
Pull dish out of the oven, baste outside with melted butter and sprinkle with more brown sugar
Place back in oven for 5-10 min or until apple is tender when poked with a fork
Get chubby and happy

These could be great with your wine

I will have to try that apple recipe!! AHHHHHHH I love the holidays!!!!!

BTW: Thx Lilly for starting the thread =)

Yay for Festivus! :xmas8:

Thanks, Lilly!

I'm already in a Christmasy mood. I'm more excited for Christmas than usual because I get to bring OH to North Carolina to meet some of my family and friends, and also I haven't seen my parents since last Christmas!

But also, it's so dark her in the evenings and cold now- it feels like Christmas weather.

:wohoo: Christmas thread I am super excited about Christmas this year as it means Elliot is nearly here :wohoo:

My friend put up her Christmas tree yesterday  :haha: she is mental!!

We had our 1st frost here this morning brrr winter is coming :happydance:

The recipe for the Gluten Free Stroganoff would be most welcome we recently got a slow cooker (crockpot I think you have all been calling them ) and I cannot have gluten so would be great

I believe you can do mulled wine in it as I have seen a recipe somewhere for it recently
I personally do not like mulled wine but DH does

BWAHAHAHA! THE GRINCH IS HERE!

I hate hate hate hate winter. I hate Black Friday. I hate holiday music. I hate holiday shopping. I hate the judgment ("You don't have a tree?! What?!") I hate snow! I hate cold! I hate when I need to go somewhere in a hurry, and there's fucking frost all over my car! I hate the awkward family get-togethers where we have to pretend we like each other! I hate Santa! (The thought of an old obese man breaking into my house in the middle of the night has terrified me since childhood.) But the thing I hate most of all is when I tell someone "Happy Holidays", and they give you a disgusted look and sneer "IT'S 'MERRY CHRISTMAS'."

I love the spiced apple cider, though! And holiday parties with hub's company where they get me drunk off my ass for free in some fun environment!

I don't usually send out Christmas cards, but maybe I can make Biblio's avatar into a card for this year.

Made it! YAY FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!! :xmas12: But boo that it's my busiest time of year at work. :nope:

I don't usually send out Christmas cards, but maybe I can make Biblio's avatar into a card for this year.

We need to get GP and her artistic skills on this, STAT! I'm thinking something along the lines of Jesus in a santa suit riding a raptor (through Walmart) that has a decorated Christmas tree in his mouth. It could be the Team Festivus 2013 Holiday Card!

I hate cold and snow too. Frost is my arch nemesis. I always go Black Friday shopping (mainly to watch stupid people fight (for reals) over mediocre bargains). I always send out "Happy Holidays" cards, but mainly because I like the excuse to dress up my dog and take pictures.
