Has anyone taken Co-Dydramol during their pregnancy?

Iv got something wrong with me called Achalasia, Its something wrong with my food pipe and often causes it to go into spasm and I get horrendous chest pain, it sometimes being so bad that iv fainted. Before i got pregnant i would take tramadol to stop the pain, but this is a no no in pregnancy. So iv been putting up with the chest pains and just taking paracetamol and sometimes my GTN spray (which iv been told is ok to take if i rele need it)

Iv had constant chest pains since thursday night and been taking paracetomol every 4 hours, but tonight it got so bad i thought i was going to pass out, my spray wasnt helping or either was anything else and a few weeks ago my doctor prescribed me Co-Dydramol to use as a last resort if the pain got really bad. So tonight i had to take it & its taken away the pain but left me feeling really drowsy.

Surley the doctor wouldnt of given it to me if it could harm baby would she? Im just really worried. xxx

Benefit outweighs the risk I'm sure. Try not to worry. People do MUCH worse than take prescribed medication while pregnant... and their babies are born fine. I'm sure yours is just fine too!

i take it 4 spd it dse make u drosey an also the baby but they say its safe in pregancy aslong as u take it how the doctor has told u take it xxx

i take high doses of co codamol i was also on tramadol due to severe hip and back problems that i was born with i take them everyday the only problem with these is addiction it wont cause abnormalities but if you breast feed its weanes them of slowlybut if you are taking them now and again i certainley wouldnt worry take them and get some relief sweetie xxx

Thankyou for replying! :) It made me feel much better and i got a hole nights sleep :) Although it did make me feel really nauseous. :( xxx

oooh glad you feel better! I was prescribed it too and have always felt guilty when I take but sometimes I just can't stand it and I have too. Baby is fine though and so is yours....glad it helped:)

It'll be the codiene making you feel sick and sleepy.I always take one as 2 is overpowering.I have had 4 babies and never had no harm come to them when I have taken co codamol.

I am also on Tramadol now which worrys me a bit but I try to ride out the pain. xx

Hope you feel better soon xx

I'm on codydamol 4 times a day for spd pain! And it's only prob since about 31 weeks I'v actually taken it four times a day cos I can't cope with the pain anymore. It doesn't make me sleepy. I have heard about the risk of addiction, and this did wory me, but more recently i heard about problems with respirations. However I have asked three doctors, and all my comunity mw's and they all say it's fine and not even menioned the addiction ide of it.

appreciate his may not be of reasurrance to you, but I hver to admit it is a concenr at the back of my mind, BUT I can't cope without it right now!
