common names

I can't believe I left Jack/Jackson off my list! I have at least 3-4 friends on FB that have sons with this name. My mum has also been trying to get me to use it!

I admit, it's a great all-rounder name - cute for a baby and great for an older man too. But it's WAY too popular for me.

The 'ie' names are popular here for boys.....Freddie, Alfie, Charlie, Archie.

In the UK

Sophie, Amelia and Olivia for girls

Thomas for boys ... at one stage 3 people I knew had babies in a row called Thomas. Charlie also, I seem to never leave the house without hearing someone call a baby/toddler Charlie.

They're nice names and there's a reason they're popular.

UK
Boys: Charlie, Jack, Oliver
Girls: Isabel, Olivia, Amelia, Ella

Jayden/Jaden and Jaxon/Jackson are pretty common where I am.

I decorate cakes for a living and I've had to do cakes for at least a few Jaxons. I don't really care for that name though

Based on my experince of under 5's, names I hear the most are:

Girls: Lily, Grace/ie, Sophie, Isabel/lla and names hyphenated with may

Boys: Jack (incredibly popular) Oliver, Jayden, Kayden

I`m a pre-school teacher in the UK - and there seemes to be a baby boom in my social circle atm..

Girls- Olivia, Isabelle (and its variations) Grace and Mia

Boys- Ethan, Archie, Freddie and Sam

I'm in NW UK, the names I hear most at DS's nursery and amongst friends are:

Boys - Archie, Alfie, Ethan, Freddie, Oliver (Ollie), Leo, Oscar, Harry, William, George

Girls - Evie/Eva, Grace, Sophie/Sophia, Amelia/Amelie, Isla, Emma

I'm in Ireland
Boys: jack, conor, Sean, Adam.
Girls: Lucy, Ava, Emily, isabelle.

In Bristol UK and I would say...

Girls: Isla, Grace/Gracie, Poppy

Boys: Theo/Theodore and Seb/Sebastian

I definitely should have added Olivia, I know four baby/toddler Olivias.

Out of my friends definitely Jacob for a boy, with the girls there seems to be more variation :)
Even though my boys have common names they've only ever been the only Thomas/harry in there class so far :)

in the UK and I think its

Isabelle/Isabella
&
Charlie

Boys: Alex, Ethan, jack,
Girls- Amelia, generally girls names are much more variable round here

For me girls I hear all the time is ellie\ella , lexi and ava. They are lovely names but used a lot . for boys I hear a lot of jacks and things like Archie Frankie Alfie. All nice names but v popular x

I live in London and I think that in my area there must be people trying to look for uncommon names as the only name I can think of in my children's primary school (not small, it has 600 pupils) that is used more than once is Mohammed. Other than that I have two cousins (one on each side of my family) who have seven year old Alfie's.

No repeated girls names though.

Another Canadian here and for girls I always see/hear Olivia, Sophie(a), Isabelle(a), Ava, Eva, Emma, Chloe, Zoe

Boys seems to be all about the 'aiden' names as DH & I call them: Aiden, Brayden, Hayden, Jayden, Kaiden, Zayden. Needless to say we're staying away from these ones! lol

Just remembered there are three Isabelle's at their school.
