I'm currently on first day of an induced bleed due to medication (northisterone) and was just wondering can you get pregnant on an induced bleed ? Many thanks :) good luck to you all :) x

I'm not too sure on the answer but I'm sure one of the other ladies will be able to help you.

I would assume that it would be the same as the pill which I THINK you can get pregnant on but as I said I'm not 100% sure :flower:

Thanks :) it wa prescribed to start bleeds ect as I have pcos and have not had a cycle for 7 month up until today.... Been trying to concieve for over 1 year now with no luck atall... It's horrible and long waiting each time to see if there's any hope ! I've had many false positives , then I was told about the false hopes of the blue tests ! Thanks anyway :) x

You absolutely CAN get pregnant on a medically induced period.
I also have PCOS and go months without periods. im being put on clomid this month but will need to get my period induced before or else I will be waiting a while for it to come on its own.

Thanks! As I haven't had a bleed for 7 months then after taking northisterone for 7 days on the 20, I finally had a period on the 1st day of 2014! Yeah great! Lol. Anyway I was havin yano what on my medication, on my bleed an now today (my bleed stopped 2 days ago) but I'm in a predicament now as I'm due to take the medication again on the 20th, problem being if u have landed pregnant it would be to early to tell and I know my medication is to induce a bleed! Confused is not the word! I also have pcos and boy do I hate it!:) x

Im almost certain that taking the medication to induce period wont have an effect on you if your pregnant, if your pregnant then your period wont come! if you think about it, women are on this monthly who are trying to get pregnant..if it was going to effect you then doctor wouldn't give it to you every month as it wouldn't give you enough time to test positive!!! Talk to your doctor about it just to make you feel better about it! Agreed, PCOS sucks!!!! I wish you luck

Thank you! And I know it's horrible! Sometimes I feel so depressed about it!x

Hi,

I am also on 4th day of northisterone today. My doctor prescribed me it for 5 days and after having a blood work to confirm that i am not pregnant. yes, it is not safe to take in pregnancy for sure.

However, It was first time my period was 9 days late as i have high prolactin level and taking bromocriptine to reduce the same. My doctor preescribed me northisterone to have a withdrawl bleed so that he can start clomid this cycle.

I have never taken northisteron, only provera...and getting advice on that with other women saying it wont hurt if pregnant, maybe you can ask your doctor if he will give you provera instead. thanks for replying with that information!!!!
I understand your depression, I certainly have very lows times with dealing with PCOS and it's symptoms, its so hard having issues that women shouldn't have to deal with...excess hair and all! I hate looking at myself in the mirror now, symptoms worsened in the last year:growlmad:

I've recently just started putting on weight to! From being size 8 now a 10! Lol so I take it provera would be safe to take incase of pregnancy? But will also induce a bleed? I really do hate it ! It strips me of all my female entitlements ! Lol xx

I have asked that same question...if it was safe during pregnancy and women said it was, so I only assume but I think you should speak to your doctor about it just to be safe

I'm currently ttc baby #2, I have tried lydia pinkham tonic, vitex/chaste tree, and 2x rounds of provera. However no sign of my period. This has not happened before, when usually the above treatments have served me well.

Does anyone know of a stronger dosage or brand of provera, that treats secondary amenorrhea?
