Hi

I had lap and dye results today, everything looks good but the dye wasnt spilling? so they want to do a hsg to look for blockages as he said lap looks on the outside and hsg inside. I thougt lap went in??

i think the lap looks around and about, but it's too big to actually go into the tubes, so i wonder if the hsg is to go into the tubes? when i had my lap & dye, i didnt have spillage in my right tube, but they didnt want to investigate that further as it looked like it was spasming due to the procedure,

not sure if this is helpful! someone who's had hsg will be in a better position to help cherub

hsg inserts dye through your cervix and the dye fills up your tubes
don't know what a lap is, but an HSG is definitely the inside!

hi - think the LAP looks on the outside of your tubes and surrounding area to see if any endo is attached to your organs. They must inject dye into the tubes too (from the outside of your tubes) and that was not spilling out. The HSG is inserted into the uterus and dye is passed through the tubes. Dont know if that helps - i never had one just had the HSG done.

I've had both but the lap was to confirm the results of my hsg. My hsg was inconclusive so whilst carrying out the lap they inserted dye, dr's told me it was more effective than the hsg because they could put more pressure on, turns out my are both blocked. My hsg wasn't an enjoyable experience at all so I would question it with dr, no point going through that and wasting more time if you have got blocked tubes, I've now been referred for ivf.
