I have just started to combination feed. Feeding my LO aptimil for the last feed of the day.

Its only day 2 and I'm confused about making up bottles. It says to let the kettle cool for 30 mins before pooring into the bottle. How is this practical? He doesn't wait for food - lol!

What do you do??

I also have the powder dispensers. How are these used? Can you carry the boiled water round with you all day and then add the formula as and when required? Or is this a big no no.

Help :)

i premake with freshly boiled water, then rapid cool in water and pop in the fridge. Then when needed boil the kettle and heat in a jug. Its much quicker to heat a bottle than to cool one! Yes you can fill your bottles with boiled water then add the powder when ready but it doesnt make the powder sterile, but thats your choice obviously :) x

I make the bottles up with boiling water earlier in the day and leave them to cool on the side. Then when little one needs a feed add that to the water at the time.No problems so far :D

Thanks girls. Why do you need to rapid cool under running water?

Can I make them up an hour or so earlier and just let it cool on the worktop? Is this really bad?

I've done it by the book so far but it takes so long and poor Ethan is just screaming.

x

I make my bottles with boiling water, fill the sink with cold water and put them in there for 20 minutes before putting them in the fridge - stops my fridge icing up. I make every bottle in advance and use them within 24 hours (usually within 12 to be honest).
